I need some advice from other gals contending with August heat waves.
I want to have either a Viennese Hour or a candy buffet at the reception. My concern is that all of the little chocolatey pastry delights will melt on the way to the reception venue which is about 1/2 an hour from the bakery. The reception venue does catering and could make a buffet of deserts but they would be little pecan and apple pies, mini tarts, etc. All are delicious but not the italian desserts I was hoping for.Candy on the other hand, can be ordered in bulk before the heat hits or bought in advance at Sam’s club.
A friend suggested making a combination buffet with some candy and some less delicate dessert options but I’m worried that will just look like a random mess.

freeze them before you put them out? So by the time they are eaten they will be unfrozen? Prolly a stupid idea but I dunno that’s what I would do.

Is there not a delivery company with a “reefer” or refrigerated truck in your area?
You can have them pick up and deliver the desserts to your venue who should be able to keep them cool for you.

I agree with the PPs’ advice, but in regard to the “combination table” – I think that it could work and not look like a “hot” (pun intented) mess if you displayed everything on similar plates/containers, etc.
Maybe go a bit DIY and spruce up your food holders with fabric in your wedding colours or something. As long as the presentation is streamlined, it won’t matter that you’ve got a mixture of candy and desserts – people will just be excited to eat!

Does the bakery deliver? Maybe you can check with them and work something out
