I’ve been scoping out Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses, primarily trying to find the PERFECT colour i’m imagining. At a store, I found a Dessy Bridesmaid or Best Man dress in “merlot” in the stretch charmeuse fabric, which I LOVED. The same style/colour dress is pictured on their website.
However, the majority of the Dessy styles that I like come in Matte Satin (rather than stretch charmeuse). There is no picture on their website (or dress in the store) that shows Merlot in this fabric. When I choose a satin dress in another colour, and then recolour it to merlot the colour looks VERY different. Is this just a problem with colour swatches on the computer? Does anyone know how large of a difference there really is in the pics when you change the colour?
The Colour I like:
However if you look at the following dress in Satin, and then select ‘merlot’ – you’ll see that the colour looks TOTALLY different than the above colour:

Wow! That’s a huge difference! I can’t speak about this particular designer or dress, but I have noticed that the “same” color often looks very different depending on the fabric choice. I would say your best bet is to see the fabric in person. If you go to a retailer that sells Dessy dresses, they will probably have swatches for you to see. You may even be able to get swatches online. Good luck!

I think the links might be a little screwy – the 1st one you posted shows a dress in “Merlot” but the 2nd is in “African Violet”.
I did click on the “Merlot” in the 2nd link to change the color to make it the same and it does look different but I’d check it out in a bridal salon if you can. It’s kind of like trying to pick paint chips online – it gives you a good idea, but it’s not really until you see it in person that you can get the best look at it. Good luck!
Edit: I read your orig. post wrong. My bad. I’d still check it out in person though – it might not be that different.
