Do you know if Dessy carries these in stores somewhere? Or are they online only?
Ooooh, those are gorgeous! http://www.dessy.com/accessories/Duchess-Bridesmaid-Ballet-Flat Me thinks I'll be getting a pair for when my heels hurt too much :) Thanks for the idea and for the review, very helpful!
Very helpful review! That sucks that they don't even do exchanges!
congrats! i really wanted to order from them but couldnt get past the no-exchanges rule (which is just ridiculous)
Thank you so much! I've been debating about these shoes for a month now but I've been too chicken because of the no return policy. This will be shoe number three that I've ordered online and I really hope these work.
And whitesonnet, I went to my local bridal store that was listed on Dessy's website as one of the stores to find their products and they told me they could order the shoes for me, but I don't know if I would be required to take them with the same type of return policy as online.
I've been debating about these shoes too. I wish their return policy was different. I'm 5'11" and I wear a size 10. I'm going just go for it and order!! I have tried too many other shoes and have not been happy with them. I'm tired of ordering and returning at other sites.
I'll let you know how it goes.
Thanks for the advice!
I just got mine about a week ago in the mail (four weeks after I ordered-I was thoroughly P.O.ed) and they fit fairly well. I usually wear an 8.5 or 9 and I ordered the 9. They're just a little big but will stay on with the elastic back.
My only real complaint with the shoe itself is that the elastic part of the shoe is definitely not cute. It makes it look a little frumpy. BUT...that's only the very back of the shoe and no one will see it. I'm thinking of adding some small rinestones to the toe to make it a little cuter.
So I received the shoes in the mail, and they fit fairly well. I do have a narrow foot, so they are a little loose around the toes, but the elastic is very tight so it defintiley holds my heel. I may even have to stretch the elastic out a bit.
Just some added info regarding these shoes: I ordered two different-coloured pairs (ivory and gold) in exactly the same size, and the gold pair fit about half a size smaller than the ivory pair. This may explain the varying reports about sizing. If you happen to want ivory, then, I'd recommend sticking with your usual size; for gold, go up a half size.
Also, it's NOT true that you can't return them. I called the number on Dessy's home page and there was no trouble at all returning the pair that didn't fit, even though I live in Canada. You tell them you want to return the item, they email you a form that has to be included with that item, and that's it. The only slight catch, according to the invoice that came with my shoes, is that you only have 5 days from date of receipt to initiate the return, so if you need to return something call them right away. But they were easy to deal with and I'm very happy with the shoes that do fit.
I know this is a weird question, but do the shoes show toe clevage?
I just thought I would update this to be a little more current.
I was really excited about these shoes. I used their size chart online to order a pair of size 8 Oasis colored shoes. Online it says they have an exchange policy.
These shoes were way too big. According to their own shoe chart the size 8 was actually a size 10.5 so when I wanted to exchange them for a smaller size they told me this would not be possible. You are allowed to return them, but will reimbursed for shipping either way. And then you just have to reorder the shoes and pay shipping again.
Overall i think it is probably better to consider zappos.com they allow you to try on as many as you want and they always pay for shipping. I found my Dessy shoe experience to be a little frustrating. The shoes were very pretty though and they came well packaged. Just be prepared to pay shipping a couple of times to get the sizing right if you really want them.

Many brides on here have checked out dessy.com for their ballet flats that you can order in many colours!
I was pointed in their direction even by this board and when I was on the hunt for the same pair of shoes as I saw a bride wearing in a photo shoot I loved.
FOUND THEM!
Well according to their foot chart my feet would not even fit their shoes because they were "too big". I am 6' and wear a size 10 shoe. I just said what the heck and tossed caution to the air and ordered their size 11 as most reviews i read said to go up a size from what your normally wear. I really wanted the african violet but they no longer sold those in size 6 or 11. So I settled and ordered the aubergine. A slightly darker purple then what I really wanted but hey my wedding is shades of purples so I'd rock it.
It wasn't long for the shoes to come from new york to british columbia. Tried them on and what do you know, I may as well have been wearing clown shoes, they were big!!!!!!!!!!!! Chart said I wouldnt even fit a size 11, but their size 11 were BIG!!!!!! AND YOU CANT RETURN OR EXCHANGE! place a whoel lot of cursing here. For 3 months I considered just sucking it up and maybe padding the heel with some moleskin so my heel wouldnt slip out. Forget that! I went back and ordered their size 10 this time in the colour i wanted African Violet. I also sent them a huge long rant email with a photo of my foot tracing on their diagram and let them know they should re-do their foot chart.
Two weeks go by again, and my shoes just came in the mail today. Like Cinderella and her missing glass slipper, I was excited to try on my shoes again. This time a perfect fit! I grabbed the other shoes to compare and put one on my other foot. They even felt different, the size 10 almost seems softer and the elastic in the heel isnt as tight as the one in the size 11. I switched shoes on my feet to make sure I wasnt crazy, but sure enough same thing. So I dont know if Dessy has changed makers of their shoes, but I am in love with the ones that came today.
If you are going to order their ballet flats, go with your normal shoe size!
