yes, I had to switch to a different planner a couple months before the wedding because the original one was getting NOTHING done. She wouldn't reply to emails for weeks. My wedding turned out beautiful and fun but it was not due to the planner. I put a lot of effort and thought into things, the main one being an incredible venue, and my guests were a really fun group. I guess some advice would be not to take no for an answer so quickly. I mean, obviously there are things that can't be done but little things (like drink dispensers) can almost always be accomodated. I got the phrase "this is what we usually do" A LOT. And any other requests I made, were treated like they were a huge imposition. Don't let them turn your wedding into the cookie cutter wedding they always do for destination brides.
I have fired one planner already. Even though I hired someone else (the manager of the wedding area at the resort), and she is AMAZING, I keep running into the fact that everything the first planner said was included is NOT. Everything this lady promised is false. So I am starting all over again and I am having a hard time trying to get the fact that I was lied too to my planner. My planner now is trying to be as helpful as possible, but we keep running into issues because I think one thing, and its not the case.
@handbag - I'm so sorry to hear that. I've been lucky in that my planner (via the resort) has been extremely helpful and attentive.
Were you able to get anything that your prior planner promised in writing? Did you sign any contracts? If so, look them over and make sure that she doesn't have to provide you with it.
