yes, I had to switch to a different planner a couple months before the wedding because the original one was getting NOTHING done. She wouldn’t reply to emails for weeks. My wedding turned out beautiful and fun but it was not due to the planner. I put a lot of effort and thought into things, the main one being an incredible venue, and my guests were a really fun group. I guess some advice would be not to take no for an answer so quickly. I mean, obviously there are things that can’t be done but little things (like drink dispensers) can almost always be accomodated. I got the phrase “this is what we usually do” A LOT. And any other requests I made, were treated like they were a huge imposition. Don’t let them turn your wedding into the cookie cutter wedding they always do for destination brides.

@handbag – I’m so sorry to hear that. I’ve been lucky in that my planner (via the resort) has been extremely helpful and attentive.

Were you able to get anything that your prior planner promised in writing? Did you sign any contracts? If so, look them over and make sure that she doesn’t have to provide you with it.
