I love the idea of out of town bags. I think also with a destination wedding having a beach bag to take home with you is pretty cool. But how do you travel and plan to have all the “stuff” for bags, including cards, goodies, water, suntan lotion… waiting at your destination for you? Any destination brides out there, I would love to hear how you managed the feat! Also, cool ideas you could share for contents would be wonderful.

I planned my Savannah, GA wedding from N. California and yes, I did use Out of Town Bags for the 20 guests that traveled from CA. The trick was purchasing items from Etsy and Ebay that I could take with me, then purchasing the bags and the generic items in the days leading up to the wedding. For my bags, I purchased mustaches on sticks and had one in each bag (our wedding was on Halloween and I wanted something fun and quirky to break the ice). I also purchased perfume that was significant to the area the wedding was taking place in. I made sure to grab a local snack (pralines) and had them in the bags as well. Also, the bags had maps of the area and information about touristy type spots. The Maid/Matron of Honor, BMs, MOB, MOG had black tanks (from forever 21 for 3.80) that I ironed on their titles with “Bridesmaid” and so on… for the men I included engraved flasks (really cheap on Ebay) that said their name, their title in the wedding party, the location and date. It worked out nicely because it turned out that EVERYONE’S flight was delayed by hours because of bad weather so the snacks were handy.

We’re doing Out of Town bags for our Destination Wedding in Aruba! We’ll be flying with them, some of the stuff with the Future In-Laws. It would be too costly for us to ship it, so we’re packing lots of luggage!
For our bags: Beach bags with snacks (costco), water (purchased on island), travel first aid kits (97 cents @ Target or Walmart), anti bacterial, travel Tylenol (Dollar store), gum, VA peanuts (hometown goodie), stamped postcards (instead of a guest book the guest will send this to us letting us know they’re favorite part of they’re trip), small swim suit bags (Uncle is making), wedding guest door hanger, welcome letter, & map.
I wanted to put underwater cameras but that’s kinda pricey. And just some advice, people will go on the trip with suntan lotion already if they know they going to the beach, I remember reading that on a previous post and I thought it made sense!

I am making goodie bags for the airplane ride since we will all be flying to the destination together. I am including a word find book, gum, candy, a pen, tylenol, and a pocket-fold schedule of the activities for the three days we will be together in Jamaica.
