I’m having a destination wedding next year April and I’m not sure how people do the whole honeymoon thing. Will you have the honeymoon right after your week long detination wedding after the guest leave? My mom seemed to think are honeymoon was the trip when we get married. I was like umm no..why would I want my honeymoon with my parents and his parents there! Do you think coming home and then leaving another timeto a different location is a good idea..that seems to be what we are planning on doing because I want to go somewhere different for my hoenymonn then the wedding location. Any ideas are appreciated!!

Thats exactly how I felt. Having family and friends around for a honeymoon didnt seem like much of a honeymoon for me. Some brides dont mind, but I do. So When we get married in Negril Jamaica we will be at our wedding hotel for 3 days, then we will leave that hotel the day after the wedding and go to Montego bay Jamaica to another hotel for 6 days, and that will be our honeymoon. We plan to take a trip somewhere else on our 1 year anniversary.

Our destination wedding is in October, but we have made almost no honeymoon-related decisions yet. The only thing we know with absolute certainty is that we’re not taking off immediately after the wedding to go somewhere else – it’s just too much hassle to pack up and get ready for the wedding and then either leave directly from there, or go home for 24 hours, unpack, and pack again.
Beyond that… who knows. I think it’s likely we’ll stay on the island a few days to chill out after the ceremony, but I don’t know that I’d think of it as a honeymoon, largely because it’s a place we visit a few times a year so calling that particular trip a honeymoon doesn’t feel quite right. Then maybe in a few months when we’ve sufficiently recovered we’ll do something for just the two of us.

if you do a destination isnt that part of the honeymoon, why would you have a spereate honeymoon if you are having a destintation wedding? its like everything all in one? at least thats how we were going to do it

My destination wedding is going to be my honeymoon as well. But only my mom, brother, best friend and her fiance are going to be there. I don’t mind because they all understand that the day after, me and Fi are going to be all about us. We also already live together so it’s not going to be new for us to be spending nights together and stuff.
I think leaving from your destination to go back home to go on a honeymoon would be fine though!

My DW and honeymoon will be at the sam time. All of our guests are leaving on Monday (wedding is on Sunday) and we will be there til Thursday alone. We sort of think the purpose is to have the wedding/honeymoon together, but I think you can do whatever you want…unless your mom is footing the bill.

After our week long DW with our family & friends we are leaving and going on a 10 day honeymoon alone. When we decided to have a DW, we both agreed that it was important to have a seperate honeymoon and I’m excited for both! =]

@sweetchiquita12: I think as long as your honeymoon fits your budget and work/school schedule, you can take it whenever you want!
We’re getting married on a three-day Bahamas cruise out of Miami. FI and I really want a separate honeymoon just the two of us. We’d hoped to take a honeymoon cruise departing from south Florida one or two days after we return from the wedding cruise (on a Monday), but I’m not liking any of the itineraries. Puerto Rico for a week was an option, but their hotels are pricier than I expected. So our current Plan A is to take an 8-day Southern Caribbean cruise (which is my dream cruise, by the way!) that leaves the Sunday after we get back out of San Juan. It means flying home, going back to work for three days, then flying back out, but we get an awesome honeymoon!

My FI and I are doing our destination wedding in Key West. In October, we’re going to Tahiti for our honeymoon because we’ve heard its the best time of year to go and it’s a better time of year for us to get an extended period of time off from work. We’re thinking about doing a mini-honeymoon immediately after the wedding either in the Keys or a short cruise out of South Florida. I agree with @TwinABee, not many good itineraries in April. No matter what, I’m so excited for it all!

We’re doing it all in one. DW on Friday, family/guests leaving Sunday and we stay there until the following week on Monday 🙂 So we’ll have a full week to ourselves 🙂
Whatever your budget allows is fine

We are having our DW and honeymoon at the same time. The wedding is on Saturday and most of our guests leave Monday morning. We will still have time to ourselves until Thursday.
