We’re having just a very few people (my teenage daughter, my closest friend and his partner, FI’s dad & guest and FI’s mom) join us for our July wedding in the Bahamas. This is an encore wedding for me and the first for my fiance. We have family and friends here at home who we’d like to include in our celebration by having a party when we return. I’m adding a picture of my dress (not me in it,lol) which is informal, and my fiance will be wearing a white shirt and linen pants. Several people have said we should wear our wedding clothes to the party at home. Is this appropriate? I’d love to wear my dress again. Thoughts?

Of course you can. It’s a beautiful dress!

Go for it! I’m having a semi-DW and a second reception, and I’m thrilled that I can wear my dress twice!

It is a beautiful dress! Definitely wear it to the party!

I think it is a lovely dress!
If you were to ask on the Knot they would emphatically say no you cannot rewear your dress however. Just saying because I asked as well and it was apparently not OK! You can at a minimum try it on to show people but that’s it.

Definitely! That dress is beautiful, and perfect for both a wedding and a party!
We were thinking about doing something similar (small family wedding, big party after) and everyone said, “you have to wear your wedding dress!!” The more I thought about it, the more excited I got. Not very many women get to wear their dres more than once!
We ended up going in a different direction, and I’m still bummed I won’t get to wear my dress a second time! 🙂

Isn’t that the reason for destination weddings, so you can wear your dress more than once! Just kidding of course but its definitely a perk. Everyoene will want to see your dress so of course go for it.

I am getting married in Mexico and having a reception back here. I am wearing my dress but our reception has turned into a full blown wedding reception. I think you can wear your dress because everyone will want to see you in it anyways. That is the perk of having a destination wedding!! 🙂
