Well, I am no longer doing a destination wedding. There are to many “hidden fees” and I feel like I’m giving up to much just to have a little. I thought a destination wedding would be cheaper but in the end it’s coming out to be about the same.
So big question bees…St. Louis or Chicago?
Parents live in Chicago, I currently live 50 miles away from St Louis with my finace. I could do either or, but I’m once again torn! Plus side it I can view the venues, not just go off a website.

Traditionally, the wedding is in the bride’s family’s city. Traditionally, the bride’s parents also foot the bill. However, this isn’t really a hard and fast rule any more.
I would plan it for where the majority of the guests live. If that’s Chicago, you will probably have to make a couple trips, but you do so much planning on the internet anyway, it’s not that big of a deal.

Where does everyone else live?

I would plan it for where most of the guests live. Just curious, where was your destination wedding going to be? I’m starting to plan one.

I would consider where the majority of your guests will be coming from. If almost everyone already lives in Chicago then it would make the most sense to do it there. If it is split between St. Louis and Chicago then I would go with the one that you want!! You may also be able to do a wedding cheaper in St. Louis or get more for your money!
