@Aamitchell51:  I had a destination wedding in Cuba last year May. It was an amazing time and I’m so glad we chose a destination wedding! We wanted a smaller wedding but actually had 70 people attend which was a really good turnout! We legally got married in Canada first then had a smybolic wedding at the resort with a whole bridal party. We had the reception in a private restaurant with a plated meal, cake cutting speeches, dancing and an open bar. It was a blast! We used the photographer at the resort and he did an awesome job!

I don’t know much about it, but DH’s boss went on a vacation there last year and didn’t like it very much.  He said it was okay, but loud, didn’t feel safe, and the food wasn’t very good (and this is a brawny guy that loves mardi gras in NoLA, so…).  Granted, that was a vacation and y’all will probably get better treatment, but I thought I”d share since that was one of the reasons DH and I decided not to do Punta Cana for our honeymoon.  So make sure you tell them you want GOOD food haha!

Congrats!

I haven’t been to a wedding there but that is the resort we stayed at a couple years ago

If you have never been there – well you are in for a treat!!!  Everyone there is behind polite and is willing to help out in any way possible.  The resort itself is so beautiful – and the hotel is amazing.

Also when we went, depending how long you stayed – they gave you a money credit to spend on the resort!!

We stayed for one week so they gave us $1500.00 to spend.  They give you a list of options to spend the money on.

They had kodiak photo booths that you hire a photograpther to follow you around the resort – that was on the list so we did two of these!! the pictures i found were very pretty – of course there is a few bad ones! haha.  But the photographer follows you around for about an hr and takes you where you want to go.  We did pictures inside the hotel, around the resort, some with the animals of the day and on the beach.  Some of the pictures were amazing!

We also used the credit for a romantic 5 course meal by the pool.  It was awesome!!!

And we also used it on the “dominican experience” tour – which was really neat!! there are other things to spend the credit on but this is what we chose.

That was 2 years ago – so hopefully they still do that!!

@Aamitchell51:  Just so you know press “reply” under the peoples name and the reply will go to their message box or if not they wont see it unles they come back to the thread. We just got the highest photo package they had and they gave us a whole disk of the pictures and a few prints. There were only pictures taken at the ceremony then after on the beach not at the reception

@Aamitchell51:  I haven’t been there myself but I’ve only heard good things about the Hard Rock! We’re having our wedding at the Majestic Colonial in PC. Like many PPs, we’re getting legally married in Canada before we leave and then doing a symbolic ceremony and beach party reception there. I think the main thing to remember with destination weddings is that the Wedding Coordinators at the resorts are pros and you can’t sweat the small stuff because they take care of everything for you. My brother got married at another resort in PC in 2008 and it was really an awesome wedding……it was really great to be on vacation with our family and friends.
