I’m looking for a Fall 2014 wedding in the caribbean. I would really like something more rustic and not as cookie cutter. Also, maybe a place that has kitchenette’s and villa’s that hold a group of people rather than singular rooms! I have NO idea where to start. My wedding budget is about $13K and I will probably have 40-50 people in attendance. Can anyone give me some ideas? I looked into Puerto Rico – the El San Juan resort which was reasonable. But, that’s it! I need to find places that give group discounts as well. Should I use a wedding planner? Help!

Amore28 … Check out Negril Escape in Negril, Jamaica as well as Hummingbird Hall in Montego Bay Jamaica. There’s also another location called Firefly in Jamaica but to rent the venue you will need to go through a local wedding planner, I suggest Tropical Weddings Jamaica. You have a solid budget to have an amazing, non-cookie cutter wedding for 40-50 people !!

@amore28: my fiancé and I went to the Dominican Republic this summer and it was absolutely beautiful. We also saw quite a few weddings while there!

@amore28: I could be biased and say “come to Antigua!!” but while reading your post the nature Isle came to mind: Dominica (the Commonwelth of Dominica). Pirates of the Caribbean was filmed there.
If you stare clear from places like Sandals you should find what you are looking for. There is always a less cookie cutter option.
Other wise, you can still choose Antigua and visit Barbuda (pink sands) or Montserrat all on a tight budget.

We are getting married in Roatan. We are staying at a condo resort called Infinity bay spa & Beach Resort . Roatan does have many rustic places to stay however. Its a beautuful island with the reef just a short swim from the beach. Many divers go there for perfect diving and the beautiful reef. Im using a wedding planner that is great to work with. Her web site is roatanevents.com if your interested. Good luck finding your perfect venue.
