Not sure about Rome, but from where my family is from in southern Italy weddings are an all day affair! Like reception starts at noon and ends at 2am. And it would still be a fraction of the cost from what you would spend here! I know my answer was not helpful at all! Sorry lol

@Poiiop:  Me and SO met in Rome (I’m half italian/english/irish and he is american)

We will probably end up getting married here for practical reasons. Anyway I can help you with locations, what kind of place would you like?

Locations in the centre of Rome are very limited and you have to leave the venue usually at about midnight if it’s an evening wedding (for the noise) and if it’s lunch you will probably have to leave at about 5 ish so they can prepare for the evening reception.

Also for most places you have to pay extra to rent the location to yourself since most places tend to have more than one wedding at the same time.

The average rent is between 5 thousand- 10 thousand euros plus the meals which usually start from 110 euros a person.

Traditionally italian receptions focus on the meal and there is not much dancing or music so you may have to explain very clearly what you’d like. At least that’s what we will do.

I also advise you to hire a wedding planner. Most people in Italy don’t really speak good english so the organisation could be difficult especially to get your papers in order, italian bureocracy is long, complicated and generally speaking inefficiant so start doing your papers in advance.

Rome is beautiful but very hard to navigate (organisation wise) so feel free to write to me is you need help!

Hi and congrats! My fiancé and I will marry in the states and honeymoon in Rome. Do you have any recommendations for photographers in Rome? I’d love some cool photos of us there but am overwhelmed at the prices I’m finding.

@Poiiop:  Yes I understand how overwhelming it can be! Italy is difficult to navigate but there aren’t many bees on here planning a wedding in Rome so I’m excited and happy to help anyone and compare notes! Which hotel is it if you don’t mind telling me

@Poiiop:  I grew up in the uk! Also love chicago, it’s a beautiful city!

I know the Savoy, it’s a nice hotel. Can I ask where you are doing the ceremony?

If your date is June look up Hotel de Russie. It has amazing gardens! I know a couple that got married there and were very happy with everything.

@Poiiop:  Yes in trastevere, i don’t know how well you know Rome but I’m right in the centre.

I know exactly which church you mean and it’s a good idea in Rome to have reception and church close to each other since the traffic is terrible.

How many people are you having?

Sorry to be bombarding you with questions I’m just excited to find someone on here getting married in Rome! Italian traditions are just so different for weddings and I don’t really like them as much as english weddings but here in Rome it’s hard to find someone who “gets it”.
