In my opinion, YES!!!. I would have died without mine. I didn't have to worry about anything and she kept everything on track. The day just flew by and if she wouldn't have been there to remind me of things, it would have been a disaster.
I didnt, my venue had a wedding coordinater available whose job was to basically be my day-of coordinator, she made sure everything ran smoothly at no extra cost to me.
@Annabelle86: ditto what she said, and before i knew i had this included, i was planning to do everything myelf and ask for my BMs to help. i dont know how that would have turned out though, lucky i didnt have to find out!
I would only say yes if you have heard a lot of negative things about the venues planner. Otherwise she/he should be serving all the roles of the DOC for you.
as a planner im supposed to say "oh the venue coodinators are only in it for the venue not for the bride, we are worth the extra money to have that piece of mind everything will go right!" buuuuut i didnt hire a planner and im using my venue DOC...she has her end handled and i have everything on my side so organized she dosent have to do anything except difuse immediate situations...

If the venue has an event planner and all of the set up is taken care of, is a Day of Planner necessary?
