@viv137: That’s more than a reasonable RSVP deadline! This is a destination wedding and requires a lot more advanced planning than a traditional wedding. For our wedding, we’re asking for final RSVPs about 3 months before the wedding date.

I think that is very reasonable. I have just received my last batch of RSVP’s for my August wedding. My guests pretty much had the same timeline. I gave them a verbal invitation 14 months out, the STD 9 months out, the invitation 6 months out,and I requested the RSVP’s be back last week. I got most of them and I will have my follow up calls completed today. I am using the actual rsvp cards as my guide for my count so I have stressed to my guests if you don’t drop the prepaid self addressed stamped postcard back to me you will not be counted on the final guest list. That tactic has pretty much worked

Good luck with the rest of your planning  :  )

I did a destination wedding, and I had an rsvp of a little over 2 months as well.  I also think having the destination makes it easy for rsvp because you pretty much know who will be coming because they have already talked to you about coming.  I just found that I didn’t have to hit up those people that never responded when they never mentioned coming to the wedding.  I only asked the stragglers that had previously mentioned they wanted/were coming.

I am doing the exact same thing as you so I think it’s ok 🙂 My wedding is in October and I’m sending out invitations the end of this month and having an August 15th RSVP date (2 months before my October 15th wedding). A lot of people have even been asking us when they will get the invite, so I don’t think it’s weird to send them out this early since it’s a DW wedding.  People will know by 2 months before your wedding if they are coming or not.

You are totally in the rigth timeline. Just make sure you give youself enough padding to call those people who didn’t send back the RSVP. 😉
