bkprettygirl:  We’re spending 5 days in Majorca Spain for our wedding with all our family, but the day after the ceremony we fly to Cuba for 2 weeks in the caribbean 🙂 although we’re having a destination wedding, the fact that all our family and friends will be there doesn’t make it feel like a honeymoon. We could have added another week in Spain but because we holiday here several times a year doesn’t make it a special honeymoon destination for us, but since you’re in Costa Rica which I’m assuming you don’t visit often you could definitely add another week on after family leave!

I’ll be in vegas a week for my wedding. Some people are staying longer and some are not. We just told people we are going to have the next day alone. I separated our honeymoon a couple months out due to the fact that I am getting a little vacation out of the wedding and we are getting married close to the holidays so I figured it will be a good vacation after Christmas! If I could keep it going after the wedding I totally would go to another place from vegas but I tried to keep it logical. either way I can’t wait. woo. Love DW

I don’t have an answer for your situation but I will share our plans: we are doing a DW in Florida Jul 2015 as the majority of FI’s family is there. We will have FI’s two kid’s with us during the entire week we’re there. It’ll turn out to be more of a family vacation then wedding/honeymoon.

We will plan another trip in 2016 for just the two of us – and that will be our so called honeymoon.

Do Costa Rica have what you want in terms of honeymoon? extending for an extra week certainly is the most convenient way, but it all depends in what you both want to see/do/experience from your honeymoon.

bkprettygirl:  We are getting married in Punta Cana (spending 5 days) and then we are having a honeymoon in Mexico. The FI and I want sometime to ourselves after the wedding.

bkprettygirl:  We aren’t staying in Mexico for our honeymoon. We are jetting elsewhere for that 🙂

bkprettygirl:  We did a DW (3 day cruise) then spent an additional few days in Miami as a sort of mini-honeymoon, then did a 10 day honeymoon about 6 months after our wedding.

We did a destination wedding at a resort in the Riviera Maya, Mexico and were with our friends and family for a week.  We actually got there a day before they did. We just went to a fancier, adult-only resort about 15 km down the road a few days after our wedding.  We needed it because it was extremely busy the week of the wedding at the first resort and I felt we had no relaxation time.   We thought about going somewhere else entirely but we are both super busy and didn’t want to plan an entirely new vacation.

bkprettygirl:  We have our destination wedding in Cabo. We will stay in Cabo two days after the wedding, and then we will fly out to Belize and stay there for a week. It’s a relatively short dlight, and it should be relatively drama free.

bkprettygirl:  Also, what part of Costs Rica is your wedding?  If you’re in the Guanacaste area for the wedding, maybe you can then move to the Volcano/Arenal region for the honeymoon, or vice versa. The cool thing about Costa Rica is that it is so diverse depending on what part of the country you are located.

When my brother got married in Mexico they flew home, did laundry, repacked then 2 days later flew back out to somewhere else. They found it was cheaper to buy round trip tickets than one ways.
