- Wedding: August 2014
BF hasn’t proposed yet but we are looking at a Jan 4 wedding in India. Has anyone planned a destination wedding, or any wedding in 7 months?
It won’t be a small or low key affair, it will likely be 300+ people since that’s how many family/friends we will have at a typical Indian wedding. That being said, I don’t have a specific venue or something very special/extravagant I plan to do.
I am just concerned about having little time and planning from afar. That being said, we have family in India to help check out caterers and venues, our moms will also be making trips to help plan (since BF and I can’t go to India before Aug). And I will go in Aug (BF might too) to finalize things and pick clothes (we have 3 wedding outfits for Indian weddings).
Our parents know BF is planning to propose in the next two months (I think??) but I would like to wait until the proposal to involve other family in the process of choosing vendors etc. I would be fine with wedding planning without the ring if BF and I were going to be the ones deciding, but since we have to rely on others due to distance, I feel weird/less excited about doing it before the proposal.
I also don’t want ot stress out my BF with the details now since I think he is already stressed at work (works 16+ hour days) and is spending time planning the proposal/ring. For example, today he had me send him information on pear diamonds since their length to width ratio matters more, and table % and witdh % etc and he was like HOW DO PPL BUY DIAMONDS ONLINE WITH ALL THIS? And I told him it would all be on the GIA report (he may just be messing with me and have gotten the ring already but I doubt it…)
Sorry for the long post, any guidance on planning a destination wedding or a wedding in India would be appreciated!
* This isn’t the type of destination wedding where there’s an all inclusive resort or anything…
