Iam marrying in FI hometown in the US. A lot of people here will not be able to make the journey bc its 8 hours away and notice will be kinda short..b/c of US immigration..
We can not return to the country for 90plus days..bc of immigration and i want to settle in with the kids etc..
Can i throw some sort of recpetion? hometown reception? pre-wedding or something? We want everyone here to be there but it wont happen and we want the chance to say goodbye etc..
thanks in advance

@JoshsTammy: sounds like a good reason to have a party. maybe call it a combined engagement/pre-wedding/going away party?

I agree. Go for it! People think that if it’s not a fancy wedding, it’s not worth throwing, I DISAGREE! Celebrate with your family and friends! They’ll be glad they were able to share in this special time with you! Make it as easy and stress-free as possible! Send out e-vites, make it pot-luck and use paper plate if you have to! As long as you’re surrounded by love, it’ll be a great day!

Totally agree with PP! Have a “come celebrate with the soon to be Mr. & Mrs. party”. You can even say in it that you will be out of the country after that so you want to celebrate with everyone.
