My wedding is in Costa Rica in a few weeks; our welcome bags will be per person for singles and per couple for couples. The items below will be placed in plain small canvas totes – no monograms or wedding dates or anything imprinted on them. They will include:
-indiv wrapped ibuprofen
-indiv wrapped chewable pepto
-insect repellant wipes
-snack (chips or something) bought at local store
-something sweet bought at local store – chocolate or candy
-gum or mints
-Costa Rican coffee (if we can find reasonably priced small bags of coffee at the local market)
-itinerary of the weekend
-list of local attractions and things to do
-hand-written welcome/”thanks for coming” notes
-(only for parents and wedding party: bottle of rum or wine)
Am I missing something?

I would add in bandaids I am always needing them but always forgeting them! But it looks like a great list!

@MsPanda: Bandaids! Good idea. There will be a few clumsy people and a couple that will probably drink too much and do something stupid. We’ll have three physicians and a couple of nurses, so if we need more than bandaids, we’ve got it covered.

I think youve covered all the basics and the coffee is a great little extra touch. There are so many things you can add however. Is there any kids comming to the wedding?

@lauramich: Glad I was able to help! and shoot if anyone gets hurt at you wedding they will be well taken care of lol!

@naturalysam: No kids, but good question. I was thinking maybe sunscreen, if we can find small-ish or inexpensive bottles. I was planning to buy lots of it for us and just offer it to people if they need it. We’ll only have 14 guests.

I think all those ideas sound cute!
If you want to add personal touches, you could always personalize one or more of the items. For my friend’s destination wedding, they had personalized labels on the water bottles & everyone thought it was so cool. You could easily make those yourself. If you want to personalize the bag itself, you could always just tie on a tag. They sell pretty ribbon at the dollar store if you’re on a budget & I find it makes a big difference.
I love the coffee & chocolate ideas especially 🙂

I def like the idea Of sunscreen or lip balm…. Things most people forget 🙂

Safety Pins!!!! They are always a wedding essential because you just never know when a bra strap is going to break or a neckline will need to be altered at the last second.

I would add a “shout wipe” or a tide-to-go stick (the shout wipe are cheaper since you can buy a box of wipes and just put an individual wipe in each bag) – for any spills on fancy clothes.
I also second the idea pf personalizing the water bottles. You can buy “sticker paper” (paper you can run through your printer) at Office Max or Staples and then cut it to the appropriate size and slap ’em on your water bottles. Will cost a minimal amount and goes a LOOOONG way in making the bag personal!

sounds good! and i second sunscreen or chapstick – i included those in my welcome bags and they were super cheap to get travel size ones at the dollar store and target.

@lauramich: Target and Walmart sell travel sized mini sunscreens for about $1.50 each.
