I have no clue but let me know what you decide to do!! I know there are some where some of the "output" is pretty yucky, hehe!
@Sweetheart: yeah i know.. my cousin swears by this stuff from arbonne... but i dunno... i will buy something, i may just go to a health food store and ask them.
My mother used this stuff I call "voodoo tea," but it's some sort of herbal tea that she supplements with the master cleanse (the spicy lemonade diet). I won't go into the gory details that she shared with me, but she said she definitely felt way clean after she'd finished.
If your talking about a full body cleanse, I like to make this detox soup. You eat it in place of one or two meals, or in a smaller serving to replace a snack. Each ingredient does something, like boost your metabolism, get rid of access water weight, fight cancer, etc. There's a million different variations of this recipe, but this is what I use -
One can of beef broth or French onion soup
Three quarters of a head of cabbage, chopped
Two chopped white onions
One chopped green pepper
One half cup of chopped celery
Four cups of water
One large can of stewed tomatoes (28 oz.)
One garlic clove, chopped
One teaspoon of salt
Three tablespoons of brown sugar.
You may also add a dash of hot sauce or paprika, if desired, to punch up the flavor.
To prepare, combine all ingredients in a large pot, bring to boil, then turn the heat to low, and let simmer for about one and a half hours until vegetables are tender
You can also use low sodium crackers to go with it! Good luck!
It's actually not that bad! I've been using this a few times a year for quite some time. It takes a little getting use to, especially if you have a diet like mine (Mcd's, pizza, pasta!) But when you tweek it just right to your taste, and use a few crackers, it's well worth the results! At first, it gave me some pretty bad hearburn. But I need calcium anyways, so I took a few tums and I'm good!
I took a set of pills called "The Cleaner". I will say that I felt like it certainly had me cleaner than I was feeling before I took it.
Definitely one of the yucky output ones.
And also, you can add any other veggies you like too. If I have them on hand, I add carrots and that sweetens it up a bit and takes down some of the other dominant veggie flavors. And if you make a big batch, it's SO much easier to grab a bowl and pour a serving quickly than having to make it over and over again throughout the week. I've even made the soup, and put it into individual tupperware containers to take to work or to re-heat in a jiff when I'm feeling snacky. I like to eat this for 6 or 7 days, depending on how much soup I make!
I did the lemon detox. It worked but I have never felt so ill in all my life. I think the prob was that I exercise dailly and eat healthy anyway so all it was doing was draining all my energy. not sure if I'd do it again but I lost 5kg which is approx 10 pounds in 5 days.
and I only weigh 100 pounds so that is 10%
I've done the Master Cleanse several times with varying success. If you google it you'll find tons of results on the cleanse and people's experiences. They recommend a 10 day cleanse that involves drinking the lemonade drink only for those 10 days, no food at all. The first time I tried I only made 3 1/2 days but the second and third times I was able to make the whole 10 days. It definitely takes a TON of willpower, but after you get past about the 4th day it gets much easier. I felt great while cleansing and was able to exercise without any issues. It's definitely not for everyone so I'd recommend doing some research before making your decision.
Lots of water, antioxidants and no processed food for several days will give you a good detox. I can't do the liquid fasts as my blood sugar gets too low. There is also a good tea called "super dieter's tea" that will get your digestive system moving!
Please read Penguin's cleansing experience... I think it will give you a great perspective.
@peacock: I'm going to try that soup tomorrow, not to detox, but it sounds yummy lol! I'm going to use low-sodium broth though b/c I retain a lot of water...
The best way to detox is to cut processed foods & sugars... if your great grandmother wouldn't recongnize the food or cook it that way- don't eat it!
The best detox I've ever had was cutting processed foods & sugars for 3 days & then running 10k. Honestly I need to do it again... I felt incredible! It gets out all the nasty toxins in your body. I did this in May & (gross) I could see the cleanse immediately after the run. It flushed everything out of my system. I usually end up with a salty mess after a good run, but NOTHING like I had after I cut out the crap. It expelled all the garbage through my skin. I'm sorry if this is too gross & tmi, but I felt amazing afterwards.
2recessionistaBride when you cut out sugars did you cut out fruit and yoghurt? because they are the only sugars I eat.
I'm seriously considering trying the Jillian Michael's Detox and Cleanse starting this coming Sunday (it is the 6 month mark until my wedding)! I will keep you posted on my experience with it!

Has anyone ever detoxed before? What do you take for the detox? As some of you know I'm getting my IUD removed and want to detox after it's removals. Is there a certain supplement or food that I take?
