ok good- at least there's 3 of us! my wedding is actually at msu- but the detroit board is more lively, and that's where i'm from, so i know much more about detroit than east lansing! grew up on the east side of detroit and now i'm over in the western suburbs so let me know if you need any local advise!

Hi Jessie516 ~ We are having the ceremony & reception in Clarkston @ the Pine Knob Mansion. I have never been to a wedding there so it should be interesting.
Hi all! I'm Michelle - newly engaged and new to the boards! Just wanted to say hello - been surfing around the site for a few days now! No wedding date set just yet. Hopefully we can set a date when we are home in Michigan for Thanksgiving. I live in CT and my fiance will soon live in California, but we are getting married in Michigan because thats where my family is, and thats where we met.
Right now I'm thinking we will have our reception at Cobblestone Farms in Ann ARbor, using Carlsons Catering. Id like a few backups for a rustic (but not outdoor) reception venue, and affordable catering if anyone has any suggestions!

@msshell--My sister's friend got married at Cobblestone Farms a couple of summers ago and it was really pretty! :) Hopefully, you'll get to do some location scouting when you're back in MI for the holidays. :)
@msshell - We wanted the same thing, a rustic feel to our venue but since it's November in Michigan, it had to be WARM too! Cobblestone Farms is a great place and we looked there but I ultimately didn't want to deal with an outside caterer. I wanted a "one stop shop" so we booked the Fox Hills Fox Classic Clubhouse. It is built around the original log cabin clubhouse and still has some of the rustic look and feel but modernized. Check out some photos here.
Also, if you're at all interested in getting married on the west side of Michigan, check out the Blue Dress Barn in Millburg (near Benton Harbor). I know a few people who have gotten married there and it is stunning. I think they only book weddings through mid-October though because the barn is not totally insulated.

I've got a long way still. Can you believe winter is just around the corner? I think this'll be the last nice fall weekend this year!
I've got a REAL long ways! 1-11-11. We aren't getting married here, but in the Cayman Islands, and we are having a reception here a month or so after we come back.
@Katertot- I loveeeeeeeee the Blue Dress Barn. Well from what I have seen of it on-line lol.
We aren't going to have anything too fancy when we come back, just something at a KofC hall or something where we can bring our own caterer and liquor in, but has dinnerware for us to use. Good luck on that one i'm thinking!

@Jessie516 - I am getting married at Rosedale Gardens Presbyterian Church in Livonia, and having the reception at Fellows Creek Golf Course in nearby Canton. I can't wait!

@Jessie516 Nope, don't have my dress yet - my mom and I are going to begin the search soon though! I have heard good things about Diane's Dream Brides as well, so it'll definitely be on my list of places to check out!
@Jess Lynne--I also visited several other places in the Livonia-Farmington-Novi area, so let me know if you want any info about any specific places. Diane, the owner of Diane's Dream Brides, is kind of fantastic and she helped me a lot. My only tip is that if you go there and need extensive alterations, go somewhere else. Their seamstress had a lot of trouble with my dress (although it had to be taken in A LOT) and I was relatively unhappy with her work.
@Jess Lynne - I live like 1/2 a mile from your church, small world. Good luck with your dress search!
Hi everyone!
I am newly engaged...just happened on December 21! Our ceremony and reception is going to be on May 29, 2010 (142 days away!) at Wellers in Saline. I'm super excited! I have a dress and bridesmaid dresses, so now I am mostly focusing on getting vendors contracted!
