This is just a rant. I don’t need advice, or “oh it could be worse”. I just need to vent.
Bees, I’m just so unbelievably devastated. I got a call this morning while I was driving to work. The airline has decided to cancel our flight to our honeymoon. They won’t provide a reason. It’s not like the plane is broken down or they can’t find a pilot. 10 days before we were supposed to fly to Aruba they just decide to cancel the flight. They offered to put us on a flight on our wedding day. Are they kidding? They were unsympathetic when I explained that we were getting married and flying to our honeymoon.
We booked our flight months ago, and today we had to scramble to find last minute seats with a more reputable company. We booked with Delta and it’s costing us $2,900. We originally paid $800. And to make matters worse, now they say that a refund will take 45-60 days. I have to call the airline again tomorrow morning because a supervisor wasn’t available when I got out of work.
I just do not need this extra stress less than 2 weeks before my wedding. Two days ago I called to confirm our plane tickets and the flight out was delayed by 15 minutes, I said fine. Now it’s cancelled? They didn’t even have the decency to say “oh the flight didn’t have enough passengers to cover the cost of fuel” which I KNOW is why they cancelled. They just kept saying “We can fly you out the day before.”
If you are honeymooning in Aruba do NOT fly with Tiara air. They are unprofessional and not to be trusted. Pay the extra money to fly with a US based airline.

I’m really sorry to hear that! I think anyone would be devastated by their honeymoon travel arrangements being screwed up. The fact that you didn’t get an instant refund from them is really shitty. If you had to book other flights, the least they could’ve done was given the money back immediately so you could use it toward that.

Grrr I’d be so mad! I’m sorry…here’s hoping that everything else goes great! I’d be livid at the extra money spent…but maybe even more the hassle two weeks out.

OMG I would be pissed. That is absolutely ridiculous!! $2900 is absurd! That is considerably more than it is costing Fiance and I to fly to Italy and Turkey! I’ve had flights change times before (within the same day) but never completely cancel leaving us with no other option. And to have to wait that long for a refund?! When you talk to a manager demand some free tickets or considerable vouchers! Maybe you’d never want to fly with them again anyway, but usually if you talk to the right person you can get a comp of some sort

@adoc86: I know right? It’s robbery at these prices. FH and I would have preferred to go to Europe (we have RCI timeshare so we could have picked anywhere) but we didn’t want to pay 3K for flights. It’s so ironinc that we’ll end up paying that anyways. But the resort is booked and paid for, so there’s no going around it now.
I’m just so pissed that they’re not only canceling our flight with 10 days notice, but they’re giving us a hassle on our refund. I’m just completely dumbfounded that they can do this to people.
