I just wanted to brag a little. 🙂
I’ve always asked for a meaningful Christmas gift, and this year, DH did it BIG.
He gave me some nice smaller gifts, and then he handed me a bag with six cards in it. He explained that he wanted to capture a sort of time-capsule of what it’s like to be newlyweds, and then he wrote 1 letter for me for this Christmas, and 5 letters to my future self. Each one is to be opened in ten-year increments. I’ll open the next one on our 10th married Christmas and the last one will be opened on Christmas Day of our 50th year of marriage.
He told me it was really hard emotionally because you have to get in the mind set of being like, “Ok, by this time, our parents will have died” or “By now, our kids will be off to college and we’ll have an empty nest.” I loved it so much, not only because I have something to look forward to for the next 5 decades, but because it caused him to be really introspective and reflect on the life he anticipates us building. It was perfect, and nothing I expected.
Did you get anything sentimental this year for Christmas?

Awww! Oh my goodnes, my heart just melted! That is so incredibly sweet and meaningful! I love it 🙂
We got a puppy this year, so not the same type of sentiment, but it does elicit a lot of love and “family” emotions from us 🙂

That is such a fantastic gift! I am absolutely in love with it. Something to look forward to for years to come.
My FI got me a pandora charm bracelet with a few meaningful charms on them – one of an elephant because in my travels I had been dying to ride one throughout my entire 2 year backpacking trip and finally did in Laos, one is a little travel case because of my travels, and one is a little house because at the end I came home to him and our new home (I met him half way through my 2 year backpacking trip).
He also gave me a planner which he wrote on the inside cover of. It explained that the time between now and our wedding was going to go by in a flash and to make the moment last and live in it, he has planned something special for us to do on the 24th of each month up to the wedding (which is Aug 24). So the 24th of every month is covered with paper so I can’t see it, and I’m not allowed to remove it until the day of. He said I’ll be presented with an envelope giving me further instructions that I must follow on each of those days.
