NO! DO NOT USE DIAMOND NEXUS! They have some very sketchy advertising (if you research around the internet, you will find lots of “customers” raving about them, but if you keep inspecting, it starts to seem suspiciously like people who work for them…) And they ARE just over-priced cubic zirconia, contrary to what they repeatedly claim!

Investigate moissanite, if you are interested in something like diamond nexus.

Moissanite or even Asha are a MUCH better option.

@yari:  Asha is a coated CZ made by betterthandiamond.com. I don’t have personal experience with it, but I know a few bees have one and I’ve heard good things.

The PP is right Asha has a cz core but it has a diamond-like coating.  This prevents yellowing and gives it a realistic appearance.  Also the coating is pretty tough as well.  It’s not a forever stone but I’ve had mine for for almost two years and I’ve seen some on the btd.com forum that have lasted up to nine years.

My understand from my own research is that DN claims that they have a coating on their cz but when it is tested it’s just an overpriced cz.  Plus customers have said it appears to be cheap cz in person and the workmanship on the settings are poor.

I have a Forever Brilliant Moissanite (Round Brilliant) 1 ct and I love the way it looks. I bought this ring becasue I too wanted a white stone that looked similar to a diamond (now I am wanting another moissy). I have had my ring for 6 months now and I am very happy with it. As for Asha I do not have an personal experience.

Heres mt 1ct unenhaned moissanite. I had it side by side with a diamond, my jeweler and I both decided it was much prettier than a diamond. Not to mention, the stone was only $400. Moissanite is also almost just as strong as a diamond, but with more fire and brillaince than a diamond. If you’re looking for something simliar, but don’t want to spend thousands on a stone, moissanite is a great option

@yari:  ahh, have heard much negativity about Diamond Nexus. Would probably go with moissanite over a coated cz (although there are bee’s here that love their Asha CZ)

Although moissanite is nowhere near as hard as a genuine diamond (because the Mohs scale is not linear) , moissanite is harder than any other simulant such as cz, yag etc and moissy is harder than even genuine gemstones such as sapphire.

Thus, would look into moissanite or an Amora gem (a moissanite “hybrid”) The manufacturing processes for these simulants are steadily improving and there is much less green/yellow tones than in the past and their cut is becoming even more diamond-like. They are more expensive than cz, but they will also last and not cloud/scratch like cz.

Would try moissaniteco.com  or moissanite.com or jtv.com or betterthandiamonds.

HTH, best wishes.
