Have you asked a local jeweler to custom make your setting to fit your stone?

That way you won’t have to go through the hassle of selling it and waiting for a new ring…

What if it would be possible to have the setting reworked for the smaller diamond? Or get a custom setting with your favorite elements of this new setting you’ve fallen for?

ETA: http://www.pricescope.com might be helpful, too.

@bizzybee: In diamond’s defense, most things depreciate in value after being “used”. Like cars and dresses and electronics. Even in pristine condition. Good luck!

Were you trying to sell them the diamond or trying to trade it in to purchase a bigger diamond and pay the price difference?

If you tell them you want to trade it in to buy a bigger diamond from them, they might give you the full credit of what the purchase price.

Would you ever consider replacing the diamond with a moissanite? I have a diamond ring, but really wish we had opted for a moissanite instead. Check out moissaniteco.com
