@BrideofChrist:  when I walk through places I am not comfortable i turn it over so you dont see the diamond.

@BrideofChrist:  nope, doesn’t worry me at all – it’s also not flashy enough that I think someone would think it was worth mugging me over – it’s a nice ring, it’s a good size and it’s super sparkly, but you wouldn’t look at it and say ‘she’s loaded’

That said, if someone wanted it bad enough to mug me, i’d give it to them.  As attached as I am to my ring, I value my life more (and I know my FH does too) and the ring is insured, it can be replaced.  I can’t.

ETA – I don’t know how much your car cost, but my ring certainly cost less than half the cost of our car…

If you are worried about being mugged, perhaps a plain band would be better.

no ive never been worried about being mugged and i live in mexico. i suppose i should be given the number of “ive replaced my e-ring with a plastic tie so the mexicans dont machete off my hand for it on my honeymoon” threads i see on here hahaha

i live a normal day to day life. i dont go anywhere incredibly unsafe but i think the majority of the time you dont need to worry

@BrideofChrist:  My ring is not particularly expensive (moissanite), but I don’t necessarily think that a mugger would take my word for it!  I live in a safe area, but I do turn it over if I’m walking alone late somewhere far from home.

I tend to stay away from places where I’d even worry about being mugged at all.

if walking around with expensive jewellery frightens you then dont get an expensive ring…. simple solution

I don’t worry about it. I also don’t worry about my purse being grabbed. Worrying doesn’t seem to serve any purpose.

@Washingtonian:  I do the same thing. For work I have to be in many different neighborhoods every day so when I am in an area that is full of more transient people or questionable I will turn my diamond in. I am not as concerned now that it’s insured though. Since my ring is not an heirloom, replacing it with the same quality wouldn’t be very hard (esp. since it’s just a simple solitaire).

I used to be nervous about that all the time. I’m a little more easy going now but am careful not to flash it around when using public transportation, etc.

Gosh, I need to get it insured now that I think about it!

@BrideofChrist:  No…you do realize that nearly every woman is walking around with a diamond ring, right?

i’ve never put myself in a position to feel concerned.  if i know i am going to a location that i am not familiar with, i will just wear my bands.

Sheesh, some of the comments here on this thread are pretty snarky! The OP only asked a question!
