Did any brides here actually propose to their man?

@futurearmybee:  Ask me again in 5 months. I have a plan, he knows I’ll be proposing officially with a ring, just not when. I think it will go well, though.

@futurearmybee:  Kind of! We actually decided in the January that we would plan a wedding. Since there was never a proposal, and it was a leap year I decided to propose. I got a bunch of suitable DVDs and altered them. I also left messages on the inside of each. In the last one I asked him to marry me! I also had tickets to a rugby game inside because I couldn’t give nothing! Unfortunately it backfired! He was travelling for work on the 29th of Feb. I hid it in his bag and he didn’t find it that day. Oh well!!!

I wanted to! Had started to plan it out in my head, but he then dropped the bomb that he really wanted to be the one to do it… So I had to wait. But props to all the bee ladies that get to propose!

I was going to take him to his favorite place up north (which happens to be his family cabin), walk out to the end of the doc and ask, or wait until we built a bonfire and ask him there. Because he loves the smell of a bonfire, and always seems so at peace by the lake.

@futurearmybee:  You know, I wonder this exact thing… my best friend proposed to her (now) husband, I just haven’t asked how! They kept their engagement on the down low, and their wedding was laid back and toned down too… looking forward to reading some stories!

No, but my mother proposed to my father (no ring for either of them) and they’ve been happily married for 38 years now.

@futurearmybee:  I would never do it seriously, I like being serenaded and wooed off my feet. But I always said I was gonna do it, jokingly, especially since I know he doesn’t think a woman should propose. So one beautiful night, everything was goin so well and then I just decided that I would ask him (jokingly), he said yes. So I took the ring that I always wear off my finger and put it on his, he said it was too big so I said I would resize it lol. Then he started asking if I were serious and I said yes, all this time dying with laughter on the inside. But he took it to heart and got sooooooooo upset that he started saying all kinda things that were utterly unnecessary and I told him I was joking. Even after that he was still super upset and that ruined a night that started out perfectly. lol

I would never do it for real though, and it’s not just because he doesn’t like it, but cuz I think it’s the man’s job

I proposed back to my FI and he loved it! I don’t think women should be the only ones that get romanced 🙂 I do tend to side with the tradition of the man asking first… but after my FI had already asked me I knew he wouldn’t say no and wanted to do something awesome for him too.
