I was wondering if any of you girls got engaged on this wonderful day? If not engaged did you guys get any special gifts from your men?
I embroidered a little heart for him...thinking of that I need to go stuff and sew it lol
We decided not to exchange gifts because we just bought a house and we've been spending $$$ to furnish it... but he got me two cards (one funny and one sweet) and two reese's eggs (my fav candy ever!). It was totally perfect.
I got him one card (but it did sing "the way i am" when you open it) and I made him breakfast and dinner. :)
We celebrated yesterday.
We went shopping and I got him a pair of shoes and some work pants. And then he took me out for a very nice dinner at Black Angus. We had the best service ever and the food and drinks were extremely yummy. We had a wonderful time.
My sweetheart got me a beautiful necklace of a silver heart with gold inlay...it's gorgeous and I'm thinking of wearing it on our wedding day :-)
I got him a card, massage, a dozen roses, I baked him a red velvet cake (his favorite) and I made him breakfast and will be making him dinner. *sigh*
I got simple diamond and ametheyst earrings. They're doubling as my b-day gift, too. = ) I love them! I got him Bio Shock 2 and I ordered him lunch since he's at work til late.
@his barista I better not let my FI see this! He'll be jealous that yours got BS2 and he didn't.
I seriously dropped the ball on the gift front today, but I am making an awesome dinner: veggie spring rolls with red chili dipping sauce, yellow curry with lemongrass rice and chocolate pudding with cinnamon whipped cream for dessert.
lol @ Toffee-haha. oops! I was told not to get it for him, but he's been talking about it for months! why get him chocolate (he hates sweets) and stuff when he would like that more? He got it a little early since we don't see each other today and he freaking beat it already. lol.
I got him a card, lots of his fav candy and baked his fav. cake
he got me pjs and a bath towel (which I said I wanted randomly one day n he listened I was so excited about the gifts n the fact that he actually heard me n remembered!!) and candy.
then his mom came over and gave me a ring with all diamonds in it that were from FH's great-grandma and grandma and then his grandfather who recently passed got it made for her and FMIL gave it to me, I thought it was so thoughtful and meant a lot bc FH was close with his grandfather and now I have something special to wear n remember him by.
I'm gna try n post pics
No ring...but he did surprise me with heart shaped pancakes as breakfast in bed!
@his barista I got mine Resistance 2 for Christmas (had to fight somebody for it!) and he beat it within a day because he was so excited even though he kept telling me not to get it...now he's stuck on Demon's Souls and Darksiders. Mine hates sweets too so I just made him a cute little embroidered heart that says "I [heart] U"
I was going to make him something, but he abducted me Friday night and didn't bring me home until an hour ago! No ring. But he did ask me quite a few ring-related questions and some of the conversations were decidely wedding-y. (The first thing mom did when he left was grab my hand to see if I had a ring! Sigh.) We had an awesome time cooking together, planting seeds for spring, playing Scrabble, and all sorts of other fun activities. Yay. I feel like a million bucks. And I have yellow roses, which I greatly prefer to red roses but didn't expect at this time of year. Happy happy joy joy. :)
My sweet boyfriend got me a box of custom chocolates from Shokolade...(soooo yummy!) and the sweetest card. We went to our favorite pizza parlor and then played pool at one of our favorite spots....absolutely perfect for us!
my FH made me a handmade card!! hed been in my study and raided my scrapbooking stuff! dawwwwww
I also got two new pillows as I had been whinging that my pillows are dodgy and I needed new ones :D
I took him clothes shopping and he got a few dress shirts. he was pleased :)
I made a big breakfast=eggs, bacon, and of course heart pancakes. We took our daughters to Bounce U (a place with big inflatable slides and bouncers), took the dog to the dog park.
FI took us all out for dinner. It was really a great days with all the people I love the most.
He got me a pink potted rose so that it will live longer and because pink is my favorite color (his explanation) and a really cute card. On the envelope, he wrote "Even though there is another woman in my life, you are the only one I have eyes for. Love you. P.S. Don't tell An(n)a!" Anna is "his little girl" (our dog), and I love the parentheses in her name because we tease each other over how it should be spelled so we spell it like that a lot. I think they are going to become officially part of her name. I decorated a little box and put orange tic-tacs in it and I bought five packets of different sunflower seeds (to plant not eat haha) and a packet of giant watermelon and giant pumpkin seeds. He is huge on gardening (we plant almost 3/4 acre) and always competes with his grandmother over who has the biggest in any given category. Cuteness all around. I think Valentine's day is my favorite because I think that for us it is more about being silly and cute than about spending money/presents.
My BF gave me flowers, a teddy bear, some shower gels (all part of the flower package), and a beautiful gold marine corps heart-shaped locket that I LOVE! I'm usually not a fan of gold (I wear mostly white gold or silver jewelry), but he's had it for a while with no one to give it to (he retired from the marines in 2001) and finally has me to give it to, so I absolutely love it!!! Here's a pic below--you can't see the insignia that well on it in the pic (cell phone camera), but it's the marine corps symbol of the eagle and sword.
I got him some pants and a shirt for work (he's somehow worn holes in all of his pants!), some dark chocolate (he got me chocolate too, but we generally don't like the same kind :), and a new piece of software for his computer (he's a computer programmer and had wanted this for a while). We went out to eat at this cute little wine/cheese bar down the road from us--we're a bit tight on money at the moment and this place had a great special going on (not to mention that it's wonderful food and wine!!), so we got all dressed up (just for fun) and it was lots of fun...and delicious!!! :)
Overall, it was a WONDERFUL v-day with a wonderful man!! :)
When my FI was looking at rings, the sales lady suggsted that he not give one during a holiday like Christmas or Valentines Day becuase it would legally be considered a gift and if the girl breaks up with the fiance, he can't get it back. Other days, he legally could, Isn't that the worst way to try and sell an engagement ring? But, take encouragement if you didn't get one, maybe the saleslady told him not to give it today. :)
we had a romantic evening in together but as far as gifts go he gave me candy and a cute little giraffe, haha. no engagement yet but that's alright. it'll come when the time is right,
I got a box of fresh fudge from a yummy local place, a PERFECT card and this morning he brought me breakfast in bed. He also went to the mall with me today which he didn't want to do :)
FI wanted to give me an early wedding present...he gave me a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Grande Dame..! Its for our wedding day while Im getting ready with my MOH!! and of course I told him I'd share some with him!
I took the bf to breakfast and he cooked me a t-bone steak and asparagus and got sparkling wine. Right now we're watching movies and eating ginger snaps. Though of course I wanted a ring I didn't really expect to get one so regardless it's been a good day.
I'm already engaged. FI and I decided that it was going to be a weekend of celebrating our love for each other. Starting on Friday, we went out to dinner with our church pastor and church members. On Saturday we went wedding ring shopping and he bought me a new engagement ring and wedding band and we put his ring on lay away. Then we went to play miniature golf it was fun FI won. Then we ate. After we ate we went to the movies to watch Avatar. Then on the actual Valentine's day we went to church, I prepared him lunch and then I took a nap and then made him a special Valentine's dinner, chicken enchiladas!! Mmmm mmm mmm...Oh and he got me a romantic v-day card with a gift certificate and a teddy bear.
My boy and I don't celebrate Valentine's day. I have always told him I don't want a proposal on VDay so I wasn't expecting anything.
We did go and have breakfast and coffee at a really nice cafe, went for a nice drive to a white water rapid called Bell's Rapids and then had a beer at the pub. Was nice and romantic, but something we try and do most weekends, not just Valentine's Day.
ms sweets, would love to see pics of that ring, what a great present for V day!!! Hubs and I spent the day watching the Nascar race with a good friend and drinking some beer. Tonight we're going out for a seafood dinner in Annapolis for Restaurant week cuz its cheaper and less crowded than V day. It was great to spend the whole day with him :)
@ccrane mine stole scrapbook stuff from me to make my card, too!
I got a picture frame and dinner in bed (i was terribly sick!) and he got a movie theatre gift card because I hate going to movies... so I thought if I bought it and told him he could pick the movie, I could just suck it up and go for him.
My FI got me a card, beautiful flowers, and chocolate covered strawberries from Godiva....they were so yummy!
FI and I were celebrating our 1 year engagementaversary yesterday. The day started with him giving me one of my presents- a homemade felt stuffed robot with a big heart on his chest and headphones connected to it (he's listening to his heart!). Then we went to brunch at our new favorite neighborhood restaurant (we give them our support most Sundays, since we want them to stay open!). Afterward, we browsed books at a locally owned bookstore until our movie, The Last Station, started. then home to do homework for 2 hours before we hit up a party my friends were throwing, followed by dinner at a new Etheopian restaurant downtown. Right before bed he gave me my wedding jewelery that I had custom made- a matching set of earrings and a necklace, both of which made the custom made hair comb my FMIL gave me for my birthday in october. :D
I gave him 3 small boxes of chocolates with pictures which meant things to us on the front. I ordered him a custom engraved pocketwatch but it didn't come in on time. :( I also got him a sexy underthings outfit which he appreciated greatly. ;p
We purchased our wedding bands for each other for our V Day gifts. Saturday we went out to dinner and saw Avatar, and then yesterday I made dinner when he got off work.
i'm already engaged, and he got me a beautiful arrangement of white orchids on Friday. and yesterday, we just cooked and had a very romantic dinnder together and I made chocolate covered strawberries :)
FI got me an edible arrangement of chocolate covered strawberries and a suite at a beautiful hotel for the night. And my favorite - he agreed to watch figure skating with me, which he is not a fan of. He actually ended up liking it :) He also got me not one but two cards (one for Valentine's Day, and one because it was also our 3rd anniversary)...I was very spoiled this weekend!
I think the best gift I heard about was Mrs Star's first Valentine's from her new hubby! :)
Personally I didn't get anything. FH was working so we spent the day apart. It was actually really nice. I taped him 24 in the evening and all was good.
My FI was super sweet.
We woke up together at home and I went to get his card and candies that I got him. When I gave it to him he said I was doing it prematurely. Not sure what that meant I thought he forgot or was unprepared.
We went out for breakfast as planned and when we got back there were a dozen beautiful red roses sitting on our porch. What a wonderful surprise - he had them delivered because he knew that we would be spending the morning together and I would have seen him bring them home the night before. So sweet!
I got that "lovers embrace" necklace from Kay's. He is a Kay's frequent shopper.
We didnt get gifts this year...I just bought a house and he is saving up for the elusive ring. But we did go out to a fancy restaurant and had dinner and we also watched Valentines Day at the movie theatre. All in all a great day that I got to spend with Teddy :)
I cooked breakfast (homemade coffee cake & mimosas), he cooked dinner (steak & shrimp, delicious!). We're not big going-out-on-V-Day people, so it was nice to just cook together in the kitchen, light some candles, have a glass of wine, get Sinatra crooning. It was very quiet and romantic. I got him a really cute picture frame with a picture of us in yet, and some red silk boxers. ;-) He gave me red roses and theater tix for next weekend, I'm SO excited!
No engagement, but we talked about it and seem like we're on the same page about that, which felt really good.
