My wedding is next weekend. Every time I go in for alterations the seamstress has to take in my dress a bit more. I think it's from stress.

So, I don't want to stuff my face and gain 10 lbs, but I'm pretty terrified that my strapless gown is going to slip down. My weight has always been up and down,  How do I deal with this? Should I go in and try the dress on again a couple of days beforehand? Has anyone else had this issue?

I haven't gotten married yet, but I'm worried about this also!

I'm terrified that my dress is going to be too big and slip down and I'll flash everyone!

I dont't really have any advice except to leave your last fitting as late as possible, that's my plan

@magicpotato: I've been worried about this too. I suppose you've got to make sure you eat your normal amount of meals a day. I keep trying on a pair of shorts I recently bought to make sure I haven't lost or put on any weight.

I accidentally lost weight even though I didn't notice about a month before.  She actually told me to make sure I eat or it wouldn't fit even with the corset completely closed.  I gained a few pounds back although not all of it but it also helped that the seamstress was the only one able to tie it as tightly as she did so it didn't look weird in back.  The seamstress also told me though that she sees a lot of brides lose about 10 lbs in the last two weeks before the wedding.

@Prewitt: The shorts idea is pretty good. I've been keeping an eye on how my ring fits me.

I guess I'm going to have to go in again around Thursday...

Get some heavy-duty double stick tape... it did this with a formal dress that was a bit too large and it really helped!

Make sure you eat! And get on the scale each day. Not to freak you out, but also take pictures of yourself to make sure your face doesn't start to become sunken. (This happened to my hair dresser before her wedding when she hit her "goal weight." She had to put on 3 lbs to get her face looking normal!)

I went for my final fitting yesterday. Um yeah, I'd lost weight all around my boobs. With my corset, my dress didn't fit. The seamstress gave me the EVIL EYE. Ugh!

My mom said that this happened to her too. She just ended up getting a padded bra to fill out her dress better since the seamstress couldn't continually take it in.

I saw my seamstress the morning before my wedding and she made last minute adjustments to account for the last minute changes.  See if your seamstress would be willing to do that.  For me it was only a pinch of fabric, but it made a difference.

Okay, so it worked out. A couple days before the wedding, I just pigged out. With all the stress, I was so happy to be able to eat anything I wanted...I just kept saying, well, it's for the wedding, I'll do what I must...hhahahahah. The dress fit perfectly! Thanks ladies for the comments!

Glad it worked for you, and glad you had the chance to pig out. I have the opposite problem. I have trouble deliberately losing weight.

    Oh, and congrats!

Yeah! This happened to me, but it was a good thing. I must have lost 10 pounds two weeks before the wedding. But I had a corset back :( are there some cups you can insert in your dress or something that can make it tighter?? A push up strapless bra perhaps?

ETA: ahh I just saw this was from 3 weeks ago, whoops

I keep hearing the term 'chicken cutlets'.. this is one of the top results that came up http://www.amazon.com/Miss-Oops-Chicken-Cutlets/dp/B001N444NQ I'm sure better options are out there!! This look kinda massive.. (well for me anyhow) that'd give me more than I have to begin with..everyone would KNOW they're fake!! LOL..best of luck!

I'm still banking on "accidentally losing weight" before the wedding, since working out like a crazy person and eating perfectly doesn't seem to be doing much...

I lost too much weight before my wedding and my non-corset back dress was too big.  I even asked the store to make it SUPER tight.  I just ended up having to push my longline down in the back as far as possible and had to stand up pretty straight all day.

It wasn't a huge deal, but I wasn't consiously trying to lose weight the 2 weeks prior. I was (and am) on weight watchers so I think my body just kept burning even though I wasn't trying.  Even at the gym I just did weights to tone.

At weigh in, the day before my wedding, I lost a pound.  The week of my wedding and birthday (back to back weeks), lost weight.

Proof WW works....but also scary when I thought my dress might look ridiculous.

I'm normally a stress eater, but I think between the heat and stress, my appetite has been KILLED.  Like, I truly forgot to eat lunch yesterday because I wasn't hungry until dinner time...whoops.  Not good for my blood sugar...so between that and some meds my dermatologist put me on, I'm slimming down...not a ton, though.  My dress has straps, so I'm not too worried about it falling down.  Maybe I can get away with not wearing Spanx underneath...!

Yup, my dress got too big between my 2nd and final fitting. I decided to leave it though just in case I start stress eating instead of stress working out between now and the wedding. Thankfully, I have straps though, so it won't fall down. I just have a little extra room in the bust.

I always always lose weight when I'm stressed. I've barely had an appetite this week and I'm sure it'll get worse. Sucks because I'm trying to gain weight not lose it. I will be ok with the dress because its a corset back and I also had a one shoulder strap added. That way I don't have to worry about keeping a strapless up. It's funny how our bodies all react in different ways to stress though.

Are you wearing a corset? I have the same issue - but they put boning into mine which hooks to the corset to keep it up.

I usually am a stress-eater (and wear a size 20 to prove it), but I had never encountered stress like that the days before my wedding. The kind where food is the last thing on your mind.

I didn't have a corset, although it would have helped and I did want one. But it was just one more freakin thing to add to my list and that never got done.

Ohhhh, I'm terrified this will happen to me. I always lose weight when I'm stressed... barely able to keep a normal BMI as is! My dress fits perfectly right now with me making sure to eat, but I've got one mother of a wedding happening (family members flying in from all over the world and I'll be babysitting them, making last-minute plans, wrapping things up, etc.) what happens if it grows into a sack before the wedding? How hard/expensive is it to take a dress in a size? Mine doesn't have a corset, but the construction is pretty simple...

Yeah, I totally lost tons of weight before the wedding. I was so stressed out and only eating one meal a day for like three weeks before the big day! The very next day, i was back to eating HEALTHY meals. (By healthy, I mean big-portioned, not nutritious. Ha.)

Is anyone else worried about weight gain before the wedding? Would love to hear from you all :)

You might want to try using a calorie counting website (MyFitnessPal is great) to ensure that you're getting enough every day. Probably, you aren't which is causing your weight to fluctuate. Good luck! At the very least, I echo what a PP said about double-sided tape.

Oh it was NO accident. I was under a lot of wedding related (and relative related) stress. I dropped pounds like CRAZY. Cry And my dress was TOO loose. But it looked okay. I looked fine but skinnier than what I would have preferred. I like some meat on me. It looks good on me. Embarassed
