Did anyone do a wedding reception or cocktail hour with lemonade?

That is ambitious. Three gallons isn’t really a lot (think of it just like a gallon of milk just multiplied by 3). Have you consulted any caterers who could possibly give you an idea?

A friend of mine had these at her shower. She had 3 x the 3 gallon size (one with water,  one tea, and one lemonade) for about 20 people and they were emptied in the time span of the shower (~3 hours). It would be easy to refill but I’d make sure you have someone in charge of that on the day.

@Brittanyrio:  I understood your question 🙂 What I meant was you would need at least a few of them and someone on hand to continuously refill them for that amount of people.

@Brittanyrio:  You mentioned it was outside, have you factored in the weather? If it is hot, people may drink more.

I’d really not worry about soft drinks going to waste. The unit cost of providing tea and lemonade is so minimal (if you are doing your own catering) that it is far better to have too much than too little. Especially on a hot day. The last thing anyone needs to be dealing with on their wedding day is dehydrated guests!

Honestly, if it is hot I think 10 people would go through one gallon of lemonade and a gallon of water.  If you run out of lemonade and still have plenty of water, I don’t think it would be a big deal as long as people are hydrated.  What if you just bought a ton of those disposable 2.5 gallon water dispensers, and made some sort of pretty cover for them?  You could even just wrap a box with pretty paper and cut a whole for the spout.  A little work, but it could save a lot of money and be really cute.
