When my lovely fiance and I first started dating and he officially asked me to be exclusive I got excited and told my best friends. Their reaction? They got really excited and said “What’d you say?!?!”
Fast forward three and a half years. I tell my best friends and my family that he proposed, again, I was really excited. “What’d you say?!?!?!”
I held back being sarcastic with them but internally I was was like “Really? Why would I be all excited just to tell you I had said no?”
I just had to get that out. I know the first reaction was to ask what I said (it may be mine too), but my first reaction to that was to be caught off guard and wonder what they were thinking.

Funny. I know the feeling. Perhaps they meant it more literally, as in what was your actual response (“yes,” nodding, “of course,” etc.). 😉

It seems like the usual response is either “What’d you say?!!” or “When’s the wedding?!!” Haha. I do it too.

Yes, but I kind of take that response as the person wanting me to relive the moment so it doesn’t bother me.

I would of said “Well I said no of course, here’s your sign.”

Lol it would be really funny if you said “I said no!!”. Just to see their faces!

I also got “Did you say yes?” from one person for both of them. I know it’s a natural response but it’s still so strange it’s entertaining and I was REALLY tempted to tell them I said no, I was just excited someone liked me enough to ask.

Haha, yes, I heard this, too! That’s why I started telling people, “we got engaged” rather than, “he asked me to marry him.”
