Bump! I want to go here too! What time of year are you going? I can’t decide between Summer and Winter.

Hi Ladies,

Didn’t go to The Canadian Rockies for my honeymoon… but have been there several times.  It is INCREDIBLE !!

Late May thru Early September is best… weather wise.  Especially if you want to hike etc.

Winter is all about skiing…

Have you checked out TRIPADVISOR (the Internet’s best source for Trip Planning ?)  They have some great info on their Travel Guide Pages, as well as in the Reviews Sections (Accommodations – Restaurants – Attractions)… but especially in their TRAVEL FORUMS (like the BOARDS we have here on WBee) where you can post Questions and get feedback from Destination Experts & Locals… IMO the BEST PART of TRIPADVISOR when it comes to vacation planning.

Here is the link to the some of the TRAVEL PAGES to get you started…

TRIPADVISOR – CANADIAN ROCKIES (Travel Guide Pages) = http://www.tripadvisor.ca/Tourism-g659487-Canadian_Rockies_Alberta-Vacations.html

TRIPADVISOR – BANFF (Travel Guide Pages) = http://www.tripadvisor.ca/Tourism-g154911-Banff_Banff_National_Park_Alberta-Vacations.html

Hope this helps,

Thanks! We love skiing so can’t decide between hiking/beautiful blue lakes or skiing! Guess it’s a personal choice we have to make… although I know both will be great. TripAdvisor’s great I’ve used it to plan a lot of holidays.

I live in Alberta, about 4 hours away from Banff. I’ve stayed at Banff Inn; it was good and convenient! Not too far away from the main spots of Banff downtown.

In the summer, there’s a lot to do. Heli-hikes, back-packing tours; etc.

In the winter, you could go on a snow-shoe tour around the Banff Sunshine Meadows (ski lift ticket provided) that lasts half day. Or.. cross-country skiing. I went snow-shoeing for the very first time this March — it is a great work out!

If you are a beginner skiier like myself, I highly recommend registering with the Banff Sunshine Ski School. My instructor, Sophie, was amazing. She teaches in Banff and in New Zealand.
