My soon to be MIL found these incredible shoes while she was shopping online at Neiman Marcus. Really? You know your son was a philosophy major and will never have money - why would you torture me with such things! So I just flat out couldn't afford them, no way no how. My mom was going to buy me shoes but I just felt so bad saying "hey mom! I know you already bought me that dress - wanna throw down another five hundo for sandals?" So I was looking and looking and nothing was as good as those damn shoes! Well, my sneaky MIL was in cahoots with my mom and FI all along and went and bought them for me!! I think she was really just looking for an excuse to buy herself a pair of Burberry sandals and I am perfectly content to be used that way. Yippee!!
i'm not even engaged but i already know what kind of shoes i want, so i've been looking, thinking that if i can find them now it's one less stress to worry about then.
NO SUCH LUCK.
at least i started early so hopefully they'll show up eventually.
Those are great :o)
I just had a really hard time deciding. I wanted these particular shoes from J. Crew but they do not come in ivory. I looked and looked and looked and could not find anything similar. I just ended up "settling" on Nina Culver. Not exactly what I wanted, but they'll do.
Wow, those came out really good! I'm impressed!
I had similar problems finding my shoes, although I didn't end up DIYing them. I wanted to wear sandals because I don't love closed-toed shoes, but I also needed them to be flat, because my husband is barely taller than me, and I hate being in pictures with him where I tower over him in my heels. So I figured I'd just get white flip flops. But then it was super difficult to find flip flops that didn't look waaaaay too casual. I didn't want them to look plasticy and cheap, so I scoured the Earth trying to find some that would meet my expectations! They also had to be flat flat flat - no half-inch platform or anything or I would be too tall! I eventually found these on clearance at Target:

I didn't find my dream shoes, but I found really cute shoes that go beautifully with my dress, and are pretty comfortable...and they were only 40 dollars.. so I'm good with that! But even those took a month to find.
Love those sandals!
Thank you! It's funny because I'm not crafty at all but I don't like shoe clips (they rub and are expensive) so I went to Joanne's last night, bought rhinestone buttons and sewed them onto where I cut the ribbon off! Now they're just what I wanted and super comfy too :-)
shaema- love your "new" shoes! It took me forever to find my perfect wedding shoes. I wanted red or maybe blue and had all kinds of criteria - I went through 6 or so pairs that I bought and later returned, and one pair that I still have because I couldn't return. But I did eventually find the shoes that I loved!
I couldn't decide! I looked at Nina and found about 8 pairs I liked. Then I emailed my top three to one of my bridesmaids, and instead of voting on those, sent me three different gorgeous pairs from another website. No fair!
I ended up with Nina Electra in Ivory.
I did for sure! I have a beach wedding and a short dress, so I didn't want flats, but I couldn't have heels for the sand. Most wedges weren't dressy enough. But after weeks and weeks of searching, I found them online!

It kind of shocked me that of all the wedding decisions, finding the perfect shoes was the hardest! I wanted my shoes to be my 'something blue' and need to wear flats since we'll be on the sand but I wanted them to be special. It took months to find a pair I liked but I didn't love them. So I bought them anyway and decided to take matters into my own hands! The first picture is how the shoes looked then I bought them and the second is how they look now that I made them my perfect wedding flats!! I really love them, what do you think?
Did anyone else have to 'create' their own wedding shoes?
