It seems this site is oriented towards brides who have/had long engagements of sometimes over two years. I don’t think I would have been able to handle this.
My engagement was about five months. It wouldn’t have even been that long if I didn’t make a point of shopping for a fancy wedding gown in another state on a family visit.
My fiance and I just wanted to be married. Neither of us were into the large wedding and long planning tradition.
Did anyone else have a short engagement?

@Bunny_the_Bride: I don’t think this website is oriented towards people with longer engagements. I think longer engagements are more commonly experienced on the Bee than vice versa.

@Bunny_the_Bride: I also had a 5 month engagement. I wouldn’t have wanted it to be any longer, and we didn’t even need it to be as long as it was. We just wanted to be married and didn’t see a point in having a long engagement period.

we will have an exactly one year engagement. i wanted six months, but we couldn’t get the family lined up at that time of year. I wish It could have been shorter, but one eyar was literlaly the first dya that we could get everyone together on a date that the church would approve.

I so agree. Nice to know there are others out there who just want to get to the married stage.

@Bunny_the_Bride: Thank you! We were originally going to get married in November (when I turn 21), but I’ve had health problems and he wants me to be under his insurance as soon as possible to ‘fix’ me up. 😛

@Bunny_the_Bride: I think the issue is that lots of venues & vendors book up waaay in advance. They definitely do here in LA, so this might be regional. That’s why almost everyone I know has been engaged for 12-15 months.
I was engaged for 10 months, but that was so we could save for the wedding. We just got married at my ex-FIL’s church.

@Bunny_the_Bride: Ours will have been a 10 month engagement. I wish we had done a shorter one. We will have lost four (possibly five depending how this week goes) by our wedding date. You don’t know what life will bring, and I wish I could have had those loved ones physically present.
Don’t wait if you don’t have to.
