Last night my SO and I started to really talk about setting a date. I actually ended up feeling pretty disappointed with our options. I had my heart set on an early summer wedding because the weather is just wonderful around here in May/June. The problem is we’re getting a late start so everything for 2011 is pretty much booked. I really didn’t want to wait until 2012. 🙁 PLUS, we had hoped to move about 8 hours away from my hometown, which is where we would like the wedding to be. We had banked on this move happening in the fall of 2011. A summer 2012 wedding now means waiting until fall 2012 to move. That kind of stinks because we were really looking forward to this move and I’m disappointed that we now have to a) get married a year later than I wanted and b) postpone our highly anticipated move for a year.
I haven’t really figured out a way to get around this… Did anyone else have problems like this? I wish things didn’t book up so quickly so I could have my June 2011 wedding!!

i’ve had similar problems…we didn’t want to move and plan a wedding at the same time, thought we were going to move, changed our minds, started planning the wedding and now we may be moving too…we also kept changing our date/time of year and finally had to go with when the venue that i feel in love with had available which pushed back the wedding for a 3rd time…so i would suggest finding a venue and seeing when they have available and then go from there…

Yea, we’ve seen a few venues but we really haven’t fallen in love with anything yet. I guess our date will come when we find our venue 🙂

I think that you could find a place for the spring of 2011. Some people will cancel weddings, you might get lucky. Plan to keep your move date, just improvise with the wedding and ask for help from a wedding planner. They usually can pull strings to keep your business. I would give yourself plenty of time to plan a wedding if you were to do it yourself. 2012 may be a blessing, more time means less stress, less stress means a happy couple Keep trying!@TinyTina:

yea had that problem too—we took too long to book and when u think about it there are only so many months out the year in the summer that people want to marry and on top of that most people want saturday so makes it that more difficult!
