We sent ours out just before the July 4th holiday. We both work from home and my ears are on red alert for the mailman:) He is my new favorite person. Each day 4 or 5 trickle in and it's so much fun. We play guessing games on whether it's a yes or a no, or who we think it's from! It's been a lot of fun getting them back.
I'm using a recipe box with dividers to keep them sorted in Yes and No and by hotel (we are having wedding shuttles to and from two hotels). I'm also making a small Post-it note of each couple's name when they come in because I saw this fantastic idea for seating arrangements in one of my bride magazines.
Using paper plates (to represent the tables) and small post-it notes(with guest's names written on them) is a low tech, free way to figure out the seating plan. You just move the Post-its from plate to plate until you find a configuration that works!
I figure if I make the post-it notes as they replies come in I won't have to do all that work in one shot when it's time to do the tables!
Have fun ripping envelopes open!
I sent mine 4 months before the wedding I have too many OOTers; eveyone said yes except one friend (who got offended because I didn't send it out the same time I was still thinking because she's always so iffy and she got offended)
I now have 5 more people I am waiting for and the wedding is 2 months away; I had a 99% yes rate so far which is good and bad
good-it means everyone we invited wants to celebrate with us, bad because I could save money if they say no
at least I dont have to call too many people up so close to the date
3 weeks to go. They are all ready, and I'm now working on announcements.
Yep, as you all probably know, ours went out last week! We've gotten two RSVPs back -- so much fun!
We sent ours last Wednesday. However, we boxed them up and sent them to the Bridal Veil, OR Post Office, where they will get a cool postmark and then be sent from there. Thus, they have not actually reached any of our guests yet. Needless to say, I'm impatient for the RSVPs to start coming in.
Ours went in the mail box yesterday. I've already got 3 RSVP's back from my Mum, grandparents (even though they don't have a choice, they had to come lol) and my boss. I think getting the RSVP's back is the best part of invitations.
Wow! I don't feel so bad now! I thought i was breaching etiquette since i'm sending it out more than three months early but I have so many fr. out of country to invite that i thought, screw it, I'm getting them out now! so hopefully the first batch will go out this week (the ones fr. out of the country) and in two weeks I'm sending out for the one's in the US.
Oh wow! You ladies are impressive. I have to address all mine still and am hoping to do so in the next 3 weeks. All the work will be worth it once those RSVP cards start rolling in.
We have not sent ours out yet, were waiting until August to do so. Almost everyone we are inviting already knows about the wedding though-from our Save the Dates and because they live here & one of us sees a majority of the guests on a daily basis.
I'm waiting until mid to late August to send mine out. My wedding is the last day in October so that will be about 8-10 weeks before the wedding, which I think is plenty. We sent out save the dates back in January so everyone knows about the date already. We have about 75% of the guest list being out-of-towners but.. they all know the date and most have made plane and hotel reservations already. Our RSVP date is October 3rd so maybe I'll send them out mid-August to make sure people have plenty of time to RSVP.
We are mailing them out the first week of August! I can't wait to start getting RSVPs!
As soon as we can get them. We are having trouble in the proof process. Our RSVP date is OCtober 1st. Our big problem is one of our room blocks expires August 31st and can't be extended.
You ladies are amazing! I just sent mine on Tuesday for our September 18th wedding! Way to be on your game! :)
Not yet. Still stuck in the proof process. I hope they are correct soon. We're running out of patience. One of our hotel blocks expires August 31st and cannot be extended.
We have our invitations all ready to go. Actually they have been ready for about three months. We ordered them and got them ready at the same time we did our save the dates. We were planning to send them out around Sept 1st and have an Oct 8 deadline for RSVP. Is that not giving the guests enough time? Maybe we will send them out in August....
I'm going to be sending mine out within the next 2-3 weeks! Woo hoo!
Shoot, this thread has sure lit a fire under my butt! We're at the exact 3-month mark today, so I should probably get to these... most are going via e-mail, but I still need to leave planty of nag time! *lol*
I'm sending the out of state ones out today and then the rest will go out the first of August!!!
I guess I am a little behind a bit. I am still working on the final proofs! I am keeping my fingers crossed to have them out by mid to late August!
I am sending them out during the second week of August. They won't be ready until then!
@Erindesmar - me too, I just need to get these dang things done and then they are out the door!
I'm hoping to have them out by Wednesday of next week! I am ready to get them out and start getting some RSVP's.
Hey October Brides! I'm new to the boards - but I wanted to share a tip. Number your RSVP cards… and I don’t mean to write an obnoxious number on the front of the card.Instead, flip the card over and put a (small) number at the bottom corner of the card (in pencil) nobody will even notice it. You then correlate that number to a guest - and if that guest forgets to write their name on the card (which happens more than you think) you can just flip over the card, check the number and find out who that particular RSVP belongs to. My family has done this for EVERY wedding and it pays off!
We're actually using a slightly different approach. Instead of having an RSVP card people mail back, we are having them RSVP at our Web site. The RSVP instructions include a code they need to use to access the RSVP page. That way, a) we know exactly who sent an RSVP, and b) they can only RSVP for the exact people we specify. No adding children, casual dates, second cousins twice removed, etc.
LOL. Our wedding is the day after yours. I'm mailing out on August 10th! I'm actually still putting the second half of them together this week
Ordering them on Saturday & so hoping to get them out second week in August. But we sent out STD to OOT people & have a website set up so that's plenty of notice for those who really need it.
Our invitations for our October 3rd wedding went out last week. I had planned on sending them yesterday (August 3rd) but I finished them early.
Ok I'm on the fence... I'm ready to send my invites and I'm asking for an RSVP deadline of Sept 1st... is that WAY too early for an Oct. 24 in-country destination? Should I wait a few weeks before sending the invites so I can push the RSVP deadline back a bit?
NixLapi, I do think that is too early for an RSVP deadline. I think mine is a little early and it's 4 weeks to the day early. What about October 1st or maybe September 24th? I would not do it any earlier than 1 month ahead. Why do you need the RSVP date to be so early?
You don't need to wait to send your invitations to line up with your RSVP date. You can push the RSVP date back and still send your invitations out now if you like.
@NixLapi, My RSVP date is Sept. 1 for my Oct. 17 wedding. I don't think it's too early. My vendors need the initial head count three weeks in advance. I figure that gives me three weeks to get in touch with all of the stragglers.
I'm a procrastinator and if I get an invitation and have two months to respond, I'm waiting 'til the last possible minute. If people have a quicker turnaround, they're more likely to do it while it's on their mind.
Thanks meggyg8r & Go_Noles! That makes sense... I'm just impatient to get them out I guess! *lol* I'm going to push my RVSP date back to late Sept. and hold off sending them a week or so as well.
We mailed them out yesterday and I am so glad they are out of our hands. We still have about 15 more that we will have to send out because my FMIL has decided to take her sweet time giving me the rest of the last minute addresses, but that is her fault.
We sent ours out a little earlier than you are supposed to because we are getting married on a Friday.
Mine went out Monday morning and we've received RSVPs already! So glad they are out of my hands.
I've been sending batches of our invitations (10 per batch) per day this week. FI is mailing them out through his work so we save some on the stamps! Which is why I wanted it to be spread out. Think someone would notice if there was 60+ wedding invitations in their mailing bin. :)
I decided to get mine hand canceled at the post office in Bridal Veil, OR.. will be sending them my invitations next week which means the invites will probably go out the week after!! I'm excited!
@Erindesmar - me too! I hope to put them in the mail on Wednesday but I have 50 left to address between Sunday and Wednesday.
