Did anyone GAIN weight after getting off birth control pills?

I went off my birth control pills in March, and almost immediately gained 6 pounds. I figured it was just some weird side effect but figured it would go away by now, especially since I am currently dieting and had started running again (I was in the process of taking a few lbs off when I stopped my BC).

Instead, this weight will not budge and it feels like I'm still gaining. It also seems very visible...I'm super fluffy and it's all in my stomach.

Has anyone else had this issue after getting off BCP's? I am getting really frustrated at this point.

    Thanks!

Sure did. I gained 40lbs in two years. I'm so thrilled.

I definitely did.  I gained about 25 pounds and most of it right in my middle.  It took me a little work and some time to get back to 'normal'.

I was 120lbs when I went off of them. The weight really started coming on around last summer.

Well crap. Here I was waiting for a bunch of "yeah it happened, but after a couple months it just fell off, as well as an extra 10 lbs" responses. Way to kill my mood. :)

We're going to start TTC in the next few months and I was really hoping to be at my goal weight before then. Poo.

Uh.....be sure the weight gain isn't from a little bun in the oven. It's been known to happen.

    @artbee: *like* LOL!

I went off just before Christmas and I'd say yes, I've gained some weight, particularly around my middle. I'm hanging out with Jillian Michael's and the 30 Day Shred again while chanting "bikini... Costa Rica... summer...." over and over. It's terrible.

I've also broken out like there's no tomorrow which didn't start until about a month ago. I hate it. My skin is changing and it's gross. I'm hoping it'll regulate itself though after another few weeks and a new skin care regime I'll get back to normal. Ugh. Until then, I'm getting bangs cut to cover up my new pimply friends!

Yes I did about 6 pounds and it will NOT budge. Very irritating.

@bree72: I think my problem is linked to a thyroid issue.

So you mean that the weight gain isn't water retention?

I should really stop convincing myself that I can retain 10 IBs of water lol

March isn't that long ago... give yourself some time to adjust... it still could go away.  FWIW, I didn't gain weight the one time I went off birth control, but I was also only 19 or 20.

I did, but I think it was because I figured that since I went off the notorious weight-gainers, I could eat more.  I'm back on them now and kept gaining weight bc I ate more.

10 lbs, right away, around my midsection. And I break out worse then I did when I hit puberty. I stressed about it for several months (went off last July), but I've accepted that maybe it's my new normal. I just keep on my exercise routine, and try to eat healthy, and not stress about it. We're TTC, and right now I'm more concerned with staying in shape than losing the weight.
