It seems a lot of people chose their own E-Rings or at least suggest what they like. I'm wondering how many people had no say at all and if so, did you like what he chose?

He picked it out and designed it all on his own, and did a great job! I had no idea he was even thinking about proposing, so it was a complete surprise. He picked a style that totally fits me, although finding a band for it is going to be a challenge because it's a very unique shape.

I went with FI when he bought my ring. I picked it out. Our jeweler wanted me there because FI has a hard time picking out anything (he had a hard time picking out a charm for my bracelet). I'm sure I would have liked whatever he picked just because I wanted to marry him, but I'm glad I got to pick out what I wanted.

He went on his own with no imput from me.  It's not what I would have picked for myself but now, I can't even imagine having anything different!  He knows me better than I know myself Wink

I showed him what I liked, but he took my suggestions and spinned them his own way. The result is amazing. I would have NEVER picked out this ring on my own (I wanted a solitaire but I have a princess cut surrounded by two trillioons) and now I cannot imagine wanting what I originally wanted. It is more than I had expected and a million times better than what I picked out. He did an amazing job.

DH did not consult me and that was fine. I got a simple 1/2 ct. solitaire in white gold and I love it. He knows my tastes in jewelry and he selected the perfect ring for me!

If I hadn't hinted what i liked a while back, I would have had a 3 stone ring, which is not my taste. He said that since that is what many girls seem to have these days he thought that is what I might have liked (and what the jewelry store might have pushed). In the end, I ended up shopping with him and we picked out a setting that I love, and he loves too. I had told him around 6 months before we got engaged what style of ring I like, and he actually did remember. So if I had not gone with him, I would have probably still ended up with something I like, not the one he originally thought I would have liked. I think shopping together, or at least talking about it, is really helpful. I wanted to be surprised, but this way i didn't have to figure out what to do if I did not like the ring.

I hinted at what I liked by showing him pictures, and told him one specific thing i did not like.. the rest was all up to him.  We went in over the weekend to look for the band, and every single person that came in that day, was shopping with the girls for a ring... at least 6 couples.  I was like you should've brought me!  I would've had a great time trying on rings!

i knew hubs was going to propose sometime soon, and we'd talked about the fact that he had an heirloom stone he was going to get re-set, but he did not want my input at ALL. i actually had offered to help pick it out and pay for it, but he wouldn't have it. though i LOVE the ring he chose, in the back of my mind i wanted to try on different rings to figure out what i liked, and i wonder if i would have ended up choosing the same thing. my wedding band is completely different and i wear them on different hands, but i sometimes wish i had a matching set (i didn't like the custom band i'd have to get to match my e-ring...)

He chose mine all by himself. It's not 100% EXACTLY what I would have chose, but it's beautiful & I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. I actually love it more because I can look at it & remember I didn't choose it.
