I saw this post earlier and when I read this article in my google reader ... I had to show you!

I could never pull it off .. but it's so gorgeous in this picture!
I love red lipstick with tan skin! I think you should go to Sephora and work with one of their people. They can probably pick the perfect color for you and show you exactly how to apply it so it looks right. Red is super tricky and you've got to OWN it and WORK it. But totally do it :)
I love red lipstick!!! I'm always worried that it makes my teeth look yellow though!
I know that I will definitely be rocking my red lipstick. But i wear red everyday!
I don't know about rocking it, but the lipstick I am wearing is an off red called Raisin Glaze-more of a brick red, but my skin tone is still a bit on the tan side (and got more at my kids soccer game this past Saturday-it was in the 90's here!)
I thought about wearing a red lipstick.. But I believe it doesnt look good on me!!Maybe I'll go to Sephora!
I love red and they have a red to fit every skin tone so just hit up some makeup counters and they will help you. I won't be wearing red on the wedding day though, fiance says he likes it better when my lips are 'natural' and even though I think I look better with red....he's the one I want to look pretty for so....ya.
Make sure you get a formula that won't bleed, especially if you're not used to wearing dark lipstick.
mrs lily did and she looked hot!

I am planning on wearing red lipstick. There really is a red for everyone. I am asian so berry tones work well for me. Find out what your undertones are and then go from there.
I'm going with the 40s Hollywood glam look myself. I'm doing the side part with the big waves and pearls or art deco type jewelry. I'm planning on wearing red lipstick because red is a great colour on me. My skintone is rather light, I wont have much of a tan being in the northeast in May. However, there are so many shades of red, I'm sure you can find the perfect one for you even with a tan.
Thanks ladies! I will def be checking out Sephora to try to find my shade!
@Mrs. Bee: Mrs. Lilly looks awesome, in fact I LOVE that particular shade of red so much that I'm taking the pic with me to ask if Sephora has that color. Even though she is lighter then me, I can really picture myself in that shade, awesome!
@Noelle-a-Bella: thanks for the heads up about the no bleed lipstick, never would of known!
My makeup artist told me that you can either go with dramatic eyes or dramatic lips, but not both. Red is an awesome color for lips! But it means going with a more simple look for the eyes. Like a dark eyeliner and neutral or nude eye shadows.
I plan on going with red lipstick. Just make sure you get the right shade, and it will look gorgeous!
I plan to do red lips too. I wore it in our 1940s E-photos and I loved the look.
Red lips gives brides such a vintage glam feel to it!
I could never, ever pull it off- but I'm jealous of all you chic brides who do :)
It'll look sooo nice - I wish I could pull it off - but I am pale pale pale!!!
Try it! I'm super pale (yay Irish) but a red with an orange-y undertone really gives my cheeks some lovely color - plus it makes your teeth look whiter! Just go easy on the eye makeup. When I did my makeup trial she did a red lip with a pale shimmery eye and it looked great!
I'm definitely planning on it! I love red lipstick, and I always wear it for special occasions ... so why not on my wedding?? Here is my inspiration photo:
I think it depends on your complexion and hair color. I love red lips on fair brunettes (like Liv Tyler). And blondes almost always look gorgeous with red lips.
I'd love to try it for our wedding pictures, if not the whole day. The previous posters are right - there's a shade and tone of red for everyone, no matter your complexion! I can't find a picture, but I loved Melanie Laurent's/Shoshanna's matte red lipstick toward the end of the movie Inglourious Basterds.
I'd love to wear red lipstick, but I'm so afraid to. I have almost black hair, dark blue eyes, and like, for real, white/blue/pinky skin. I'm crazy fair. Red sounds like it'd be good, no? Well, I have the problem of having GIANT lips. With red lipstick I look like I have a queen-sized futon for a mouth. :( :(
I love the look of red lipstick on brides. They look so glamarous and vintage! I think it is definitely something I am willing to try with a makeup artist of course :)
Everyone can wear red lipstick - you just have to find the right shade.
A friend wore red lipstick on her wedding day. She had the birdcage veil and totally rocked the 40s vibe!
if you go with red, you might want to consider a stain instead...I agree sephora has a nack for finding the right shade, but I LOVED the MAC stain...I applied it maybe 3x during the whole day of the wedding, and it looks great in photos...just make sure if you use a stain, you still have to occasionally freshen up, or it eventuall wears off more in the middle (from eating, drinking)
Yes! I'm a fair-skinned brunnette with dark brown eyes, and I LOVE red lipstick. I have a great shade from Chanel from the last wedding I was in, so I'm going to see if that works, and if it doesn't, I'll be visiting the makeup couter.
I'd love to, but I look terrible in red lipstick as I have pinky-pale skin that turns red with stress/heat/cold/alcohol.
I think on a lot of complexions, though, it looks dramatic and to-die-for (Miss Lily included!)
@fiftyfootbride. The same reason I can't pull off pretty much any shade of lipstick. My lips are on the large side and any hint of color makes them look too luscious for my liking.
I'm fair and blonde and have worn it but it's been with the right outfit. I think for my coloring it's a bit much, but will be wearing a deeper rose color for my day.
I love the look of it with the right hair/dress/combo, but T's not a fan of it at all. My son also said he'd never let me kiss him if I were to wear red!
I did the red lipstick, curled hair and winged eyeliner when my hubby and I got married end of last year - It was great! I even designed my wedding dress myself, with the help from a designer in the Philippines
When I look back on the photos and videography it makes me happy because I can see my features clearly through the white veil and it suited our theme of red and gold beautifully.

Finding videography or photos with brides with the red lipstick was hard, so I hope that this helps whoever is deciding what to do with their makeup.

I am going with a 1940s wave for my wedding day hair, so that got me thinking about going the whole nine yards and wearing red lipstick. I am quite tan so I'm not sure how it would look....
But, I'm curious if the red would be too drastic with a white wedding dress. Did any of you gals rock the red on wedding day?
