So I’ve been thinking about this for a while. I was trying on dresses while I was away (there is zero selection in my hometown), and I didn’t want to spend more than $1000 on a dress, which proved to be difficult. As much as I want to be stunning on my wedding day, I know I wouldn’t feel good spending a gigantic amount on a dress. So when I went shopping and told the lady of my $1000 limit, she said I would have to raise my budget… Yikes! So I went along with it anyways and fell in love with a stella York wedding dress… Priced at $1700!! I loved it, but not the price. I brought my mom and best friend with me. My best friend adored the dress, and my mom said it was nice, but I did not get any more of a reaction from her than that. I thought about it and thought about it and decided I didn’t feel comfortable with that price tag. I did however find the dress on dressilyme for less than $300, which I was very excited about after reading all the amazing reviews, butttt I wasn’t totally comfortable with that either.
Skip ahead a few days. I found a lady who was selling off wedding dresses. I found a dress with a top I love. It’s a very pretty dress and it fit smacko. It was $1000 but was being sold off for $300!! I loved the price tag!!! And it was simple yet elegant, just what I wanted!! I loved it on me, and my mom said it was me on the spot! I was on my way back to my hometown and realized I would never get a deal like the again if I didn’t buy it then… So i bought it.
As much as I like the dress, there isn’t anything extraordinary about. But that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I just want to know I made the right choice. I don’t want to look back on my wedding pictures knowing I sacrificed a beautiful dress because of price. After all, you will only wear ONE wedding dress!! I want to be stunning on my wedding day!!
Please be completely honest. Keep the dress I bought, order the replica Stella York, or… For anyone who may not like either… Look for a new dress?? Lol.
My wedding is a year away, and if I did decide to order the replica I would still only be at $600.
Again, I love the dress I bought. But it doesn’t take my breath away like the Stella York.
First one is Stella York, second dress is one I bought.

I love, love, love the Stella York dress. The other is pretty, but I think the Stella York fits your body so well. However, I’m partial to lace so maybe that’s it. My suggestion is to go with your heart. If you feel more drawn to one over the other that’s probably your answer. Let us know which you chose, I’m sure you’ll great whichever way you go.

@renmich88: okay now both are ahowing. I think what you decide to so sepends on what look you are going for. I think the Stella dress is modern and romantic with a bit more sex appeal. It could be dressed up or down based on the type of wedding you are having.
The dress you purchased is simple. My opinion on it rides in whether or not it has been altered yet. I feel it is a bit more stuffy and less modern. The lines on the bodice are beautiful and very flattering. But I wish the hem and skirt had more detail to give it more life so to speak.
Either way you cannot go wrong. If it were me though, I would get the Stella. It took your breath away. And you look so phenomenal in it. It is really a showstopper, and will not look dated in wedding photos.

I actually think the second dress suits you better, and for the price comparison you really can’t go wrong.
You could order the replica from Dressilyme. I ordered a dress from there and it didn’t fit properly, nothing that alterations couldn’t fix. But I decided I wanted a lace dress instead so I ordered a new dress. It was a nightmare, so many problems with the way it was made and it didn’t sit properly on me at all. It took over a month of backwards and forwards emails before they agreed to re-make the dress (they refused to refund the money). The replacement dress is perfect and absolutely gorgeous but I’m not sure if it was worth the stress.

Thanks for the opinions so far!
Dress has not be altered yet. I also feel the skirt needs more detail. I’m thinking once it’s hemmed it will be a bit better.
I am also partial to lace, and the fit and flare. But love the bodice of the other one.
Do your girls opinion of the Stella York still if it’s the replica I would be ordering?

@Daffadowndilly: thank you! And yes, it’s a gamble for sure. It’s a risk ordering, and a risk not! Lol

I love the Stella York even as a replica

I love the dress you bought more! I think lace is, in general, too busy for my taste. The one you bought is modern, classy, sophisticated 🙂

The Stella York is beautiful on you! I would go with the replica. Maybe add a poll to better keep track of what everyone thinks?

@renmich88: I can’t help it – I love the Stella York and I don’t really think the other one does anything for your stunning phisique! In the stella you’re an hourglass, in the other your, I hate to say it, but kindof a plank :/
Id say go a replica. Your in the same time frame as me, and Im looking at ordering a replica off Dressily me too because the ones loved were all $1800-$2200! Yikes!

@renmich88: I love the second one but both are lovely on you. 🙂
