My dress is entirely champagne with pearl beading on the straps and the empire waist. I opted not to wear a veil and instead, got a comb to keep my hair away from my face. Im 75 days away from getting married and am now worried I will not look "bridey" enough. I was so against being a typical bride that Im concerned my wardrobe choices were poor.
How can I look more bridey??
You can't look any more "bridey" in that wedding dress! It's beautiful! You don't have to be wearing a pure white dress and a big veil to look like a bride anymore, and you definetly don't want to do that if that's not the look you were going for.
The dress is gorgeous and very bride-y! I don't think you need to worry at all. Are you having a second thought on having a veil? How about a birdcage veil that can be attached to your comb? or, a big fluffy feather?
Can we see a picture of your hair comb? I don't think not wearing a veil makes you look less "bridey." I think hair combs are very elegant!
Don't worry, the fancy light colored dress will convey that you are not a guest, but the bride. There is no minimal bridal threshold, you ARE the bride... you will look bridal. If you want to add to your look to be more bridal, you can still do a veil or tiara, there is time. Just dont feel like you have to. Its a beautiful dress.
I think the dress is wonderful! I think if you have your hair done you'll look just bridey enough!-
Ladies!
Thank you so much for your encouragement. Below is the comb I bought.
@ carri38707 - a birdcage veil! I forgot about those. I will think about that.
You guys are right - Im the bride... that's as bridal as I have to be.
Your dress is beautiful! I really, really love it - its definitely bridal but very fashionable too.
Your dress and hair comb are just beautiful!! Take a deep breath, and enjoy your big day! Good luck.
I have to agree with what all the other Bee's have said. There is no doubt you will look 100% bridal with or without a viel.
I like your choice with the dress/comb. However, it's not too late to change your mind and buy a veil.
i love your dress!! are you worried because it is champagne color or because of the (non) veil? i think it looks super bridal already, and i think champagne dresses are beautiful!
if you really are worried about it, have a back up veil to wear just in case.
Your dress is gorgeous! If you decide you want a veil, go somewhere and try many different types to see which will work with your comb and your dress :)
That dress is VERY bridal!!!!!! It is perfect and you will look like a stunning bride!
Wow, that hair comb is amazing, I don't think you need anything else to look more bridal.
THAT is a wedding dress, no matter the color. You'll look so elegant!
I have to agree with everyone, that dress is gorgeous and the hair comb is darling! You will absolutely look bridal on your special day!
You could always just get a cute small veil (like elbow length). It'll add the bride-y look, but won't over power you.
I think that dress is VERY "bridey". You're going to look gorgeous!
That dress is GORGEOUS!! The hair comb is VERY cute as well. You will look very "bridey" for sure. No worries!
I tried on a dress that looks exactly like that, it is very pretty! I am also not going to have a pure white dress, I like the ivory or diamond white colors because it doesnt wash you out. I am also deciding on whether or not I want a veil. more and more people are opting not to have one and there is nothing wrong with that.
your dress is absolutely gorgeous, as is the haircomb. you will be a stunning bride! i think it's great that you went with a less traditional dress - i am doing the same!
Your dress is STUNNING!!! who is the designer?? i LOVE it! you'll be gorgeous!!!
I love your choices! I think sometimes brides get all caught up in the idea of "How Many Accessories Can I Pile On?" and add a tiara, headband, cape, veil, necklace, earrings, gloves, etc etc etc. They end up looking like those poor children on Toddlers & Tiaras
.
I love your dress and comb! You will look sophisticated and gorgeous, and you won't cringe 10 years from now!
OMG those poor girls!!
russo2b I love your dress and the hair comb combination. You'll look very beautiful and bridal :)
seriously thats pretty bridey! cant go wrong - you wear whatever you want. i too am against the piling on the same bridey stuff every other bride wears. im wearing a birdcage veil because i like the vintage look, but my dress isnt traditional, mermaid and strapless actually. i dont think you need to look like every bride to be bridey - unless some girl shows up to your wedding in a princess gown - im sure everyone will figure you are the bride! its gorgeous!
Oh, I love that comb. Where did you get it? Did it come in another color?
I think that you'll look lovely! That dress is definitely "bridey" and you'll look great. The hair clip is gorgeous, too.
Also, I had to laugh at texaslawgirl -- so, so true! :)
That dress is amazing! If that's not bride-y, then you don't want to be bride-y (oh, but it is, it is!)
Congratulations - it's lovely!
I LOVE your dress! I have always thought most women look better in champagne, ivory, cream, etc, than in pure white. I think white washes people out. I think it looks incredibly bridal. If you don't want a traditional veil, what about a birdcage veil? That's a less "bridey" and sometimes more sophisticated look...
Oh my god that dress is gorgeous! Everyone will know that you are the bride in that dress, so I wouldn't worry. My dress was a "champagne" color and I thought it was plenty bridey and I got a lot of compliments on it!
I think you will look bridey in just the dress ... but if you are really concerned, you could add a hair flower, or a rhinestone set comb ...
That dress is a total wedding dress- no way to NOT look bridey in it! But I understand your concerns. I am having my dress custom made, and I bought very champagne fabric (almost gold- but not in a liberace way)... I love the color and I love the way it looks on me, but the first time I saw myself in it, I was like "this is definitely not a white wedding dress..."
but then I realized that I didn't WANT a white wedding dress... and I still look like a total bride. I think you will look gorgeous! That dress is amazing!
Honestly, you're being insane! lol I dont think any woman can wear a wedding dress and NOT look bridey! it comes with the territory babe! I think you will look stunning in the choices you have picked and if you don't want to wear a veil then don't! dont just wear one because you think it will make you more of a 'bride', it wont!
I love that dress. You will look like a bride ... which reminds me ... my fiances sil texted us that she found the perfect dress for our wedding and it's "champagne" colored. So. Mad. she's wearing champagne.
If that is your dress, you will look amazing. If you look at the dress and if BRIDE or WEDDING isn't the first thing to pop into your mind, you're nuts.
I love it. It's gorgeous.
