@nellybee:  Just from looking, I think they are great! I’m not really really picky when it comes to photographers, but I think they’ve managed to make all of their clients look gorgeous (something I can’t say for all photogs)

However, if you don’t feel like they fit your style or look, go with another! But personally, I really think they are good.

@nellybee:  I’m personally not impressed, their images are average with some serious exposure/white balance issues and weird editing, but I’d be interested in hearing where your hesitation is coming from. Can you nail down what is making you second guess your decision?

ETA: It looks like they are based in NC but you’re in TX? Is your wedding in NC or are they traveling to you? How did you find them/what made you decide to work with them in the first place?

Looking through more of their work I can understand why you might be hesitant. They don’t seem particularly skilled with capturing portraits OR moments. It’s important to figure out which is most important to you for your wedding day. If candid moments are really key for you I would keep looking.

@nellybee:  I looked at the pictures on fb and I’m not really sure. Some of the bees on here are really good at picking out pros/cons of photographers, me, I just go by what I think looks good. Personally, I feel like theres something missing from some of the photos. Like maybe they werent editted enough, or taken at the right angle… i’m not really sure but they dont give me an “Oh! what a gorgeous picture/wedding”  kind of feeling that some pictures have. It could just be me though.

did you like your engagement pictures and feel like that session went well?

@mariematt:  +1 …you said what I wasn’t sure how to say. I’m not sure of the technical terms in photography, but I just looked up what you said and yep that explains it.

@nellybee:  I just looked back at some of the actual bridal portraits… and it kind of annoyed me that one of the brides literally took the same pose over and over… I would definitely talk to them about that. I mean, you need some originality.

Example: She literally looked down in almost every pose

    Sorry if they’re really big!*

ETA: I’m not sure how you feel about “fly-aways” with hair either, but It would annoy me if I was the bride pictured above and they didn’t edit them out…

Looks like they can use some work with their camera flash…it seems a little to harsh with less dimension. A lot of their “edits” are also unnatural and has a greenish tint to them. When looking for a photographer, look for natural looking colors–as years pass by, the way they edited it will look funkier.

@lolita39:  I agree about the posing but the flyaways… I’d be more annoyed with my hair stylist. Not all photographers include that kind of editing on all their images so I can’t really fault them for that. Taking flyaways out like that could take 20+ minutes for each image in addition to regular editing. I would do that for prints someone ordered through me but not in every photo. It isn’t the photographers fault that a bride has split ends or flyaways.

What I notice more is the inconsistent editing. The second image has saturated, true colors, the one below has faded colors. I wouldn’t know what my images would look like hiring this photographer, and inconsistent editing makes putting a cohesive album or wall display very difficult.

@nellybee:  I think the images you’ve just posted are nice, but if you’re feeling iffy I would consider losing the deposit and finding someone new. You don’t even need to look at it as losing money – you essentially paid $500 for the engagement shoot and could look for another photographer to shoot just the wedding.

What do you find most important for your wedding day images? The posed portraits are only going to be 20-30 minutes of your day, so for me at least, a photographers ability to capture unposed moments is key. It sounds like there wasn’t a lot of that during your engagement shoot.

@nellybee:  Hmm… Some of those pics were really great! Some were so-so and I think I could take a pic like that with my back-lit camera (not even a DSLR). Tough choice. But if you’re not happy with your engagement photos…haven’t you already answered your own question?

ETA: The pics you put up. You two look nice, but two of those, that angle makes it look a little bit like FI has no neck. I can see in the third shot, he definitely has a neck. So it’s the photographer’s choice of angle or not telling you guys which way to move to make it look right. I’m really not trying to be offensive, just honest.

@nellybee:  Your faces definitely look great. It’s just the angles are so important! Out of the 3 your posted, the 3rd is my pick. The second one is nice too, just the angle is a bit off. The more I look at it though, the more I like it. So we’re the same on that page. Must be because you’re such a cute couple. 🙂
