OMG. She did! Even though she isn’t pregnant yet… Ok, before you call me crazy, it was a super nice convertable crib at a garage sale that I wasn’t expecting to stop at until I saw the $25 sign on it. This crib is normally $200 easy. I think I can store it for about a year for $25! It even came with a super nice, NEW, Stage 1 and 2 reverable matress. Uhm, deal! Since we are planning on TTC in a couple months I figured it wasn’t too crazy.
What was your first baby purchase? Did you buy anything before you started TTC? Am I crazy?

My only pre-pregnancy purchase was a complete and total accident: I found a dress on a clearance rack at Target and bought it. I wore it. I wore it a few more times. I realized one day after taking it off inside out that it is a MATERNITY dress! Oh well, who cares, it is the most comfy dress I own.
My first intentionaly baby-related purchase was the Shel Silverstein book of poetry (either A Light in the Attic, or Where the Sidewalk Ends… don’t remember) and a few stuffed animals. Ya know, things that are completely and totally necessary the second a baby is born… books they can’t read and toys they can’t play with. Brilliant.
I’m hoping we make some more utilitarian purchases in the near future, but I’m not in a rush as I’m not due til April anyway 🙂
Kudos to you for at least picking up something your baby will need!

I totally have a few books that I bought that we won’t need until the kid is like 3 but that is okay. They stopped publishing them and I wanted to make sure I had them!

@DaneLady: Hey, we have a bunch of those laying around. They were books and stuffed animals we loved but had no idea what we were going to do with them. So? They are now the non-existant baby’s! So, you aren’t alone!

I have a onesie. I’ve had it for 2 years, and am probably 2 years away from putting it on a baby.
I saw it when shopping for a baby shower gift and it was so cute I bought two and kept one in my closet.

The first baby item I remember buying for my older daughter was “Love You Forever” and I would read it to my pregnant belly.

Nothing yet but it is so tempting. I am 9 weeks today and I am afraid to buy anything.

I bought the first thing when I was 20 weeks – on our way to our anatomy scan
it was “if you buy a dog a donut” book (love that series)

That is an awesome deal. I don’t see how you could have passed that up. And if you have the room to store it, why not.
I didn’t buy anything before ttc or even before a bfp. I just bought the first things in the last few weeks. A few sleepers, a onesie, a blanket and a couple books. Every baby must have books!

Hopefully it isnt a drop down crib. Those are illegal to sell or own!
My first purchase was snowsuit.. and it never got used.

Not TTC yet, but when we were in Paris on our honeymoon I picked up a copy of the first “Madeleine” book for our future baby 🙂

Hahaha this thread totally makes me feel a little less nutty – thank you! I recently started working part-time at the Land of Nod and its totally fueling my baby fever! I mentally keep trying to justify buying all this cute baby stuff because of the discount even though the hubs and I are not expecting (and aren’t even planning on trying until the winter). SO, SO tempting, and SO, SO glad I’m not alone!!

@Sassygrn: No. Not a drop down. It is a newer crib so we’re good there! lol

@LittleEmu: I feel good knowing I’m not the only crazy one too!
