Nope, I knew what wanted and that’s all that matters. You are the one wearing it, not them! I have actually went against almost every poll result here on WB when choosing my upgrade and I am so glad I did! lol. I was an encore bride so my dress and other things only had one criteria: that it was better than my last one and not to settle or go with everyone elses opinions. (Which drove me bat shit crazy when planning my first wedding). Listening to others can realy steal away the experiance and the joy of your wedding.

Nope! I had a couple of comments about how chunky my set is and was asked if I was sure I didn’t want something more delicate. I stuck to both of my rings because I think they are beautiful!

I can’t wait to see a picture of your band! It sounds pretty!

I was going to comment on the whole “it’s not a wedding band unless it’s plain” thing, but I see you’re in the UK. Nevermind!

You’re the one wearing it, get what YOU want and like.

My fiance let me choose my wedding band. I knew what I wanted and didn’t ask a single person for their opinion. It’s none of their business and their opinions don’t matter to me since I’ll be the one wearing it and it’ll have a special meaning to me regardless of what it looks like. I went with a diamond band and I love it because it goes very well with my engagement ring. 🙂

@vorpalette:  that’s how my family sees it too (wedding bands are plain precious metal, diamonds are for engagement rings) so it’s not just in the UK.

No. My mother brayed like a donkey about me wanting a small wedding. She made very rude and negative comments. It led to her not being invited to our wedding because we didn’t want that kind of energy around us.

Haters are always going to hate.

No comments IRL affected my decisions but comments here on the bee did change my decision.  Mainly the negative comments about quads.

@joya_aspera:  see whew I’m from (Sweden) engagement rings are plain bands and wedding rings have diamonds so, since I married a Canadian, I got bring on both (weell.. Thats my excuse anyways ;-))

Nobody needs negativity mama. Perhaps your sister is jealous of you? I have had jealous women (including my mother) try to tear me down my entire life. It has made me wary of friendships.

Yep. Every ring I showed my mother was “gaudy and hideous”. The PERFECT setting came up for sale but would fit a 1.8 ct cushion (instead of the .85 or 1 carat we were planning on), which I would LOVE but everyone else would lose their minds over how “tacky” it is.
