We didn't send announcements out, but we talked to so many of our friends about our new house that they all wanted to come and see it. When they came, they usually brought something small which I thought was sweet. I usually do the same in return!
I voted that we did not send cards, or recieve anything. It's with exception of intermediate family. My dad bought us a washer/dryer, my grandma got us a dishwasher and FI's mom got us some cleaning suppilies. We did get a lot of nice cards. I think some people may have brought us plants or flowers.
We had a few people in our lives buy us housewarming gifts but it wasn't expected, its a nice gesture and that's all.
I never thought of sending announcement cards! I didnt send and didnt receive any housewarming gifts.
We had a house warming party and did receive gifts from most attendees. It was not expected; we simply wanted to showcase our first home with our nearest and dearest while having everyone together. When we attend a house warming, we always bring a gift, but that's just us.
So far most people don't even send announcements, am I the only one??
We are going to send them soon (once they arrive) and I was just wondering if people respond with a gift. I normally send a gift when I get one whether it's for a house, wedding or baby. Not expected at all, but just curious what other people do!
We didn't send announcements, but we did have a housewarming party. We wrote not to bring gifts on the invite, but a few people still did (gift card to Home Depot, potted plants, homemade cookies, wine, that sort of thing).
I have never received a change of address announcement (ever), but always bring a gift when I go to see the new house or am invited for a housewarming party.

If you purchased a home for the first time and sent change of address/announcement cards, did anyone send you a housewarming gift? I'm just curious if this is normal, I have sent gift cards to friends in the past when they purchased a home.
