I’m on a pretty strict eating plan right now and all the ladies at work keep telling me not to worry because before their weddings the weight just fell off on it’s own! Did this happen to you?!
I am a stress-eater. so I cannot imagine a universe where stress causes me to drop pounds. Are you normally a stress-eater who experienced this wonderful phenomenon?

The first ten or fifteen dropped off pretty quick for me, but I feel like maybe that’s due to my high starting weight and the fact that before I started the weight loss effort I was doing absolutely nothing about my health. I’ve lost a total of 30 lbs. now and progress is getting slower, about 1 lb. a week like I expected.
Any big change is not going to happen overnight. Hang in there!

@mu_t: There are so many factors involved with weight loss in women, the answer is yes and no.
In 2008 I changed my lifestyle and eating habits and lost 140 pounds. The first 75 pounds took about 6-7 months to come off and the rest took about a year. However, I have been working out hard and eating healthy/clean since February with absolutely no weight loss whatsoever.
And yes I am absolutely a stress eater. My biggest step was filling my home with healthy, simple and clean things to eat when stressed.

thanks for the feedback ladies. i was more wondering about the few weeks before the wedding – if weight fell off without effort! i keep hearing this but i can’t believe it could possibly apply to me.
for the record, i am not planning on using this as my weight loss strategy… i am eating super healthy and working out a lot – i was just kind of curious!

Ummm no. I lost 1-2 lbs per week. If anything I didn’t lose anything the 2 weeks before the wedding because we were going out to eat more due to apppointments and such, and I had less time to exercise.

I lost about 5 lbs (maybe a bit more) the week or so before the wedding. I was far too stressed and had so much going on and probably didnt eat nearly as much as I should have.
My dress was too big the day of the wedding and I had to spend all day hiking it up, even though my final fitting was 8 days before the wedding.
Leading up the wedding (from around Jan-July) I worked really hard to lose weight, gym 5-6 times a week, eating healthy, counted calories etc and I managed to lose 24 lbs (went from around 140 to around 115), now I am at 120 because a lot of people told me lost too much weight and started to feel that way too.

My coworker stops eating during any big life event (like breakups), and the weight just falls off her. Not that I’d recommend it lol. Somehow she always manages to keep it off, though. She is fairly athletic and eats quite well most of the time.
I think stress often causes the body to hold onto fat… like in case food isn’t coming for a while. Cortisol slows down metabolism too.
It really just depends on who you are, I think. Just continue eating healthy and getting some more exercise, and you should be losing inches and pounds.

@mu_t: OH! Oops, lol. No, I’m sure I gained weight in the last few weeks leading up to the wedding. We were so busy I rarely went to the grocery store, or cooked, so I ate some pretty awful things. Terrible, I know >_<

@mu_t: Uh, no. I had lost weight (a little, and on purpose) before the wedding but in the week leading up to it and that weekend I’m sure I put on 5lb.
Now I’ve been careful about how much and what I eat for over a month and I’ve lost 8.5lbs. I was down 9 in a week, then gained 4.5, then lost 4. So maddening.

@mu_t: I don’t know who weight “falls off of”, but I wish I was one of them!
I gained 5lbs in the two weeks before the wedding! Luckily, my dress was pretty loose before the gain!

Thanks for the input! Ok makes me feel better. I don’t wanna go into the final weeks being like “ah no worries, EVERY bride loses weight befor ethe wedding” and gain like 15 lbs. haha. i’ll have to be very conscious/aware of it. doesn’t help that we’re going to dominican to be married : S definitely not beach body ready yet!

I gained weight in the week running up to the wedding thanks to prescription meds causing serious bloating.

no it didnt. not for me. i didnt loose anything the last two weeks before either

@mu_t: Yeah, no. In all my years of weight struggles, weight has never just “fallen off” unless I was being unhealthy (i.e. not eating).

@BrandNewBride: Oh, you! Five pounds would not even be visible on you. Just so you know, you are my weight loss inspiration. I didn’t want to do my video last night and I thought of you and how fantastic you look, even pregnant. Seriously. You are awesome and beautiful.
