Did you always consult your FI about registry changes?

@CarolinaCola:  I think I asked him s blanket statement once like “do you care if I change something out on the registry” and he said no so now I change stuff all the time lol

We too went in store to register at a few places and I’ve been the one to manage our registry online. If it’s something we added and agreed on together (like china, flatware, etc.) I don’t change it. If I wanted to, I would probably ask him. If it’s something he added/wanted, I don’t change it. Things he doesn’t care about and things I added, I change. I also add plenty of things without asking/telling him. I will give him random updates about “hey, I dropped this” or “I found this really cool whatever-it-is and added it”. Sometimes we each randomly come up with things like hey we should add that…and then I will 🙂

Nope! I told him the other day that I just added a bunch of shit and he was like…okay. Haha
If I wanted to delete/swap something that he really wanted then I’d let him know before I did so.

My FI was not involved at all with registering. He still doesn’t understand why we cannot tell people to just give us cash. I took care of the registry and any changes that have been made to it.  He hates shopping and mentally checks out when we enter a store.

@CarolinaCola:  I’ve got to be honest…  I haven’t been lately. We went to the store together and registered. As I think of other things I could use (like a nice napkin holder, lol) I just add them while I’m at work. Luckily, we have very similar taste and he defers to me anyway.

@CarolinaCola:  I usually let him know. And then I tell him that he can add things, too. But if it’s something that I know he cares about, I always consult him for changes. You’d think the man wouldn’t have an opinion about a clothes steamer, but when I just randomly chose one, he was so flustered because he wanted to make a lot more research to find the right one.

He wouldn’t even go to the store to register with me, I’ve controlled the whole thing. Works for me! 🙂

Nope, he really could care less. If he wants to add something he’d probably let me know and I add/change.

@CarolinaCola:  My FI has the online log on info and password but so far I have been the only one adding and deleting. We agree on a lot of items though. He loves kitchen gadgets so im sure he will be adding a few of those! Kitchen is my domain so Im sure if we were registering at Menards he would be in control of that! lol

Nope, I’ve been adding and changing things without asking, but I do always tell him “hey I changed this. or added this”  He doesn’t really care.

@CarolinaCola:  I made tons of changes to our registry without asking DH. He honestly didn’t care at all. I really think he went with me to register just because he knew that it was something I wanted to do together. The whole time he just kept saying, “whatever you want.” He’s so sweet:)

My sister was completely the opposite. Her DH was super involved and opinionated about everything! My other sister said that her favorite entertainment was to sit and listen to them argue about wedding details and stuff for their apartment. I can guarantee you that he would have been mad if she had changed their registry without running it by him. Every relationship is different.

The registry was the thing my FI has cared the least about.  We first registered together at Target, but later decided other stores had more of what we needed so we ended up closing the Target one. That meant goodbye to the bicycles we registered for.  He was disappointed in that, but hopefully we can add them somewhere else.  He absolutely hates when I drag him to stores to look at flatware and china patterns so I’ve basically been doing it on my own.  I know his style.

@CarolinaCola:  At first I tried to talk to him about things I wanted to add/change/delete but his eyes would glaze over and he’d just be like “that’s fine, whatever you want” so now I just do whatever I want. If it’s something big like completely different bedding (we haven’t sent our STDs yet so we’re still finalizing) I get his opinion but I leave on everything he picked out and he doesn’t care if I change the rest.
