I know what mine cost because we designed it together. I also know what it appraises for because we have paperwork and I got it insured.

FI eventually did tell me after we went to get our homeowners insurance and it was on the list of insured items…oops.  He didn’t really care but was kinda like “well I guess you now know how much I paid!”

Madeline789:  I know the cost of mine. I didn’t ask outright, but we were shopping together before he bought it and I knew the budget.  He told me because he got a good deal and he was excited about that. But if I wanted to find out I could have looked at the apprasial for the price.  I will add, that through the shopping process I got pretty educated on costs v. specs so my guess was pretty close to his actual purchase price.

I didn’t have to ask because we went shopping together. I knew the cost of it from the beginning, and also needed it when I had the ring insured.

Madeline789:  I picked my setting and it had an ‘estimated cost’ (depending on the diamond selected) so I had a pretty good idea but seeing as I handle all the insurance stuff in the house I had to know, I needed the info to give to the insurance company to get this baby insured 😀

I didn’t ask, but he gave me the appraisal so that I could add it to the insurance. So I know how much it cost.

I didn’t ask and I told DH I didn’t want to know. He showed me the value of the diamond at some point but obviously the ring cost different since the setting, etc. all adds up.

Nope. I know a range, but that’s all. I don’t want to know, either.

I didn’t ask, I picked the ring myself, so I know it from when I showed it to him, and he bought it a week later so I doubt the price would have changed. And he gave me the receipts.

How else would I know how many dollars I’m worth?

But actually, no I don’t know. Despite picking it out myself, knowing our budget, having the appraisal and cert papers, and knowing what we pay in insurance.. I still don’t know how much it cost. I don’t really care all that much.

He left his email up and I looked and knew the cost before I even got engaged.  I’ve asked him he’ll just say expensive or give me a general range which is good enough for me.

I didn’t ask, don’t really care. He did say he “got a deal” on it and seemed surprised how much it appraised for, so I know it was less than the appraisal price, but idk how much less

Madeline789:  I picked mine AND we joined finances before we were engaged, so yep, I know.

But if he had picked it himself, I would have asked- and I’m guessing he would have shared.  We’re really open and talk about anything.
