We had an engagement party about 7ish months after we were engaged – his parents hosted and they were in the middle of a house reno and wanted to wait till the summer. And I won an engagement photo session, otherwise we probably would’ve forgone it.

We celebrated together with a nice dinner post-proposal. DH set it up as part of the day. He’s the best Laughing

@Katyxa:  After I proposed we went bowling with some friends? We’ve been engaged over a year and will be taking engagement photos at some point. I think it’s a bit late for a separate party, though.

We went to the ballet in DC, which FI timed the engagement to be just before, since we’d had the tickets for a month or two beforehand.

First time round (circa 1980)… My Parents threw my Fiancé and I an Engagement Party.

    This time round…

Mr TTR & I spent 6 weeks looking for THE RING… and then had to wait 2 weeks for it to be ready.  We kept things pretty much underwraps in that timeframe.  The day we picked up the ring, the called up a bunch of friends and invited them out for Drinks (which we paid for, and provided bubbly)… I wore my ring… we broke the news.  It was awesome !!

A week later, Mr TTR & I spent the weekend at a luxurious Hotel in a nearby city.  We had a FABULOUS Suite… the Bathroom was GIGANTIC !!  We hung out at the Hotel / Resort the whole weekend and enjoyed all the facilities… Wonderful Restaurant – Wine Bar – Drinks on the Patio – Pools & Hot Tubs – Evening Entertainment – Room Service / Breakfast in Bed etc.

    It was FABULOUS !!

We took engagement photos, but not as a celebration of the engagement – it was like 2 months afterwards. The evening of the proposal we went out to a not-super-fancy dinner (PF Changs), just the two of us 🙂

Two weeks later we went on a trip to the Cayman Islands, but it wasn’t a celebration either. It was already planned… I was so sure he was going to do it then but he surprised me early!

My Mum threw a party for close friends and family. She was so excited. Engagement photos aren’t done over here…yet.

@Katyxa:  All of the above LOL. My parents had an engagement party for us, but really it was so that my family could get to know his. He and I were together for 4 years before we were engaged so our families heard a lot about each other, but didn’t meet until the engagement party. At our party, my dad gifted us with a trip to Oahu for the engagement. He and I chose to do an engagement shoot months later because I wanted one. My favorite of the above was definitely the trip.

We had a major engagement party about 5 months after getting engaged- but really only because we are getting married overseas and most of our friends will not be able to join us for that celebration.

After our engagement party, we spent a week in St. Croix.

So I guess we did a party and a trip!

We didn’t have a “celebration” afterwards. Just went to a friends Christmas party. 🙂

Our parents threw us an engagement party on our -1 year anniv (more coincidence, but I thought it was neat). Right after the proposal, FI took me to a super fancy dinner and to Atlantic City, and another fancy dinner, for a night a few days later. We also did an engagement shoot a few months ago. I’m milking this for everything it’s worth!
