I went shopping by myself, so even if they don’t like it, they kinda have to lie at this point. I absolutely love my dress, and that’s what matters.

I chose my dress because of the look on my mother’s face and the way she gasped when I came out. I liked it, but wasn’t sure I loved  it. Dress shopping is hard because it requires either me or my mother to travel 400 miles, and I didn’t really want to make her have to do another trip. Based on the feedback here though I made a really good choice, and the longer I look at the pictures, the more I love the dress. I think it’s just taking me a bit to wrap my head around the style I got because it is the last one I thought I would choose. I have to redo the wedding vision in my head.

I fell in love with one dress I thought everyone else would gasp and cry over. No such luck. When it came down to it, it was between two others, one which I was crazy about, it was beautiful and elegant, and one that was AMAZING and when I came out of the dressing room, every single person I was with gasped, cried or clapped.

I went with the second one. The original was lace, on the high end of my budget and as much as I loved it, wasn’t my style. The one I was crazy about was AMAZEBALLS but we’re getting married in a small restaurant and it was made to be worn at a cathedral or a ballroom.

I picked my dress based on my husband’s (then FI) opinion.  He wanted a long white trumpet/mermaid dress, so that’s what I got.  I really didn’t care about the dress, so I was just glad to be done with dress shopping.

While I wouldn’t have picked a dress I didn’t also love, it was important to me that my family liked it too. I don’t think I would have bought my dress if my mom had hated it.

I picked my dress by myself, with encouragement from my “entourage” twice. I saw it on a mannequin at one store and said “I have to try that one on!” – my bridesmaid with me loved it, but it was over budget so we sadly had to put it back. Later I found the same dress while shopping with my mom, and was like “Hey I’ve tried this one on before!” and showed my mom. She loved it as well. I got it for a better price at that store so that it was only a little bit above budget, but it all worked out in the end.

I had the exact same ddecision to make, everyone thought I should go with the flattering one but my heart liked a different one. I went with the less flattering one that I wanted and I’m generally glad I did. I want to be comfortable and feel good on my wedding day. I must admit, however, that I do occasionally wish that I picked something that showed off my shape more…but only occasionally 😉

@JAM1982:  I was alone when I found my dress.  NO ONE saw it until it arrived in the mail.

Nope. My dress was the one I liked the most, so I bought it.

I went shopping with my mom, dad, brother, grandma, and FMIL. They really liked one dress on me and I just wasnt sure because I’m the type that has to see every dress in the store to make sure I was making the right decision. My mom could tell I wasn’t really sure, but everyone else kept saying it was made for me. All the other ones I tried on, there was always something I hated about it so I thought it must be it. After I left I felt dress regret because I didn’t have the dress with me to try on and reassure myself. I didn’t get that huge feeling and didn’t cry so that’s another reason why I wasn’t sure. But when it came in and I put my dress on in the color I wanted I knew I made the right decision. I absolutely LOVE it. I can’t wait for my first fitting next year and for my wedding day to come so I can wear it and show my fiancé for the first time! So it ended up working out for me, but that doesn’t happen for everyone to where they are happy with there decision choosing a dress they weren’t sure about and all along it was the one!

I went dress shopping with my mother, who happens to be a personal shopper for a living.  When I tried on “the one”, I liked it, and I felt better when she agreed that it complimented my figure. So, I guess I did choose it based on her opinion, at least a little!
