Did you cool down on the excitment in the middle of the wedding planning?

Yes!  For the first couple months, I had trouble sleeping because I was thinking so much about venues, photographers, dresses, etc.  Now I really need to go dress shopping and make our invitations but I can’t find the motivation!!  It’s just the natural cycle of things I guess.

Yep.  I was so excited after getting engaged, planned non-stop for 6 months, now I have 7 months before the wedding and it’s just waiting to be able to do things, and not really motivated to do the tasks I should be working on (save the dates and wedding website).

@gpiglet:  ABSOLUTELY!!  I’ve been engaged since July and just started really taking care of things.

I felt like I had all the time in the world (planning a November wedding) so once we got the church secured and reception venue, we took a 4 month hiatus.  Between the holidays and stuff, we don’t want to be overwhelmed.

Now we’re contacting caterers, entertainment and photogs as well as getting out orders in for all our fashion.  I got my dress already, so that’s a relief!!

@kellynn323:  OMG f’ing wedding website.  I was trying to do it on both weddingwire.com and theknot.com and it’s so obnoxious!!  I just stopped out of frustration!!  What’s the point of them anyway??

@gpiglet:  The excitement eventually dies down. There’s only so much planning you can do. I just got exhausted at one point. We aren’t hiring any planners or decorators though. Now we’re 3 weeks away and we’re freaking out LOL

I think it is definitely the natural cycle of wedding planning. I went from obsessed to not thinking about it too much for a few months then I realized I needed to get my hiney moving if I wanted the wedding to go off how I wanted it too 🙂 I mainly took a break for the holidays. But when I came back it was with a renewed energy for planning! Don’t beat yourself up about it…..it’s natural!

It comes & goes for me.. but I had/am having a super long engagement.

We got engaged Dec 2012.. and I’ve been planning since [well sort of, I got NO planning done between the months of May & Sept due to work].

I normally just work on wedding stuff non stop for a few weeks, then take a few weeks off.

Yep here!  I was super into the whole process and then where we found we couldn’t book our venue/everything else until six months before I just kinda threw up my hands about the whole thing.  It was a pointless spinning of wheels.  I figure that once we hit the six month mark and can actually make reservations and plans it’ll be more fun again.

@gpiglet:  I think it’s totally normal! I got so tired of planning/dealing with the details and was ready to just get married already. I’m still coming out of it, so I’m focusing on the fun stuff, like finding my veil and accessories and relying on my vendors to make some decisions for me.

@BurlapnLace:  I know, I hate trying to come up with cute stories and such on the website.  I used http://www.mywedding.com I found it much easier then the other websites.  And I’ve basically just copied and pasted with some adjustments all wording from their samples.  I need to get mine finshed before we send out save the dates (3 weeks from now) so that I have all the hotel room block information on there and our registery.

I agree I am as well I feel like I should be doing more things but I’m in a rut I think. I’ve gotten most stuff done and I just need to do details and hand over money for the wedding. boo. I just don’t know what else I can do at this point so I’m just kinda whatever about it.

I know exactly what you mean! And it seems like we’re on roughly the same schedule! I’m 4 months in and have definitely lost some of the excitement I felt in the first month or so. Still pumped to be getting married, but planning has lost its fun!
